So, Impreza is hatch only and WRX is sedan only. SOA needs to get some cohesive brand placement. Too many mixed signals.

I don't agree with the using the RS label but, I am not the right demographic anyway.

What are you talking about? Outside of the BRZ, it looks better than everything else on the lot. BRZ doesn't count because it wouldn't exist without Toyota and Toyota's designers. So their cheapest model Impreza is Subaru's best looking vehicle by a country mile...sink it in.

Another MT bites the dust. Likely to be the same for the Crosstrek.

Glad to see the 2.5 back in the Impreza. Sedan being cut is a bit shocking as I would have thought that the hatch would have been cut in favor of pushing people to the Crosstrek.

I don't know why the 2.0L really exists for the U.S. market. My guess is the mpg will fall within 1-2 of the larger 2.5L, like the Crosstrek.

In a vacuum.. cool car that looks better than all of the other cladded crap. Wholistically, it feels like Subaru has no idea what their F they are doing as they look to go next gen. Their model lineups are starting to become a mosh posh of limited trims and features and giving everything fans are wanting but never in the same package. But eyesight is standard! they'll say. What was the point of getting the SGP, if not to be able to use it globally for exactly the model, trim, and options the buyer wants? Also, don't expect any vehicle with a CVT to last longer than 10 years unless you plan to spend as much as you bought it for over those 10 years on maintenance.

After watching the Impreza reveal. Its clear that Subaru went in the right direction choosing to present a sporty hatchback rather than a rugged hatchback. It would have been nice if they did the same for the WRX...rather than muddying the water trying to make it look somewhat rugged and sporty at the same time. Subaru also messed up disassociating the Impreza from the WRX. So many car manufacturers have attempted to disassociate branding, dropped nameplates and changed naming conventions with the idea that it will help them move upmarket. And most of the time the company is only successful in creating confusion and upsetting loyal customers. Honda is guilty of axing the Integra/RSX for this reason...and changing their naming convention at Acura but with a more successful outcome...however, they would never say...lets spin the Civic Type R off and let it stand alone. Honda sells so many Civics to people who dream of owning an Si or Type R...they know that's not a good idea...and now they are tugging on the heart strings of nostalgia with the Integra's reintroduction...

On another note, are the front overhangs of Subarus just continuing to get longer??? Something needs to be done!!!

They could decrease overhang by at least 1" by using CB18 instead of FB25.
CB18 has shorter bore spacing, has a shorter crankshaft and is shorter front to back compared to FB25 by 1 to 1.5".
And, of course, CB18 makes way more power under the curve compared to FB25 while burning less fuel on the highway.
It's a more expensive engine though...

Like others have said this is what the WRX should have been. This car looks a lot better, sedan or wagon I would be a lot more interested in the WRX if they did not do the stupid plastic.

New Impreza looks good for what it is, other than the odd location of the badge on the front doors.

I think they made the right decision to get rid of the Impreza sedan to free up production line(s) to produce more in-demand cars. I haven't seen an Impreza or Legacy sedan on the road in so long, to be honest. They also may have identified the manual car segment to be predominantly car enthusiasts who are willing to pay more, which they are fulfilling with the BRZ and WRX.
