Funny though, this car looks worlds better than the wrx.

Subaru can literally only do 90% of anything right. The only reason the BRZ is 100% right is because of Toyota.

The real tragedy is that this 2024 RS lost the hand brake in favor of an electronic brake. Sad day indeed.

If my Impreza blew up tomorrow, I'd probably get this car since it pretty much upgraded everything that I enjoy about my current Impreza. But as it is it's just not enough to trade while my Impreza runs and drives well.

They already have a hit. That factory is at 100% production and 100% of the cars are pre sold or sell immediately in every market (minus the auto GR86's the dumbass Toyota dealers are ordering). Several markets even have huge waiting lists still and can't get any cars to satisfy demand.

They have no reason to change the drivetrain now.

When they put the 2.5 in the lifted Impreza, I mean Crosstrek, I think I mentioned it will be coming in the Impreza a long time ago, because it already fits. I'll have to find the post.

Not shocked. Would love to have some kind of turbo and performance to back it up.

In summer, they have been good. Not the quietest due to the sorta aggressive tread pattern, but very grippy. I haven't done any autoxing on them, so I haven't heard them at their limit, meaning I also haven't heard them make a peep when pushing them either. May be a tire that they only make a sound when you're over the limit and it's too late, but I don't know because I haven't been there either. But like I said, I can take corners better in this car than the 2.5rS, that is probably because of the active torque vectoring, along with actually having TC/SC too... but it just goes and sticks.

Given our previous conversation that I chose to intercede (), I thought you two would appreciate the data points of tires that include Vredesteins and CrossClimate 2.

KC and I both live in Mass and rock different A/S tires. I find it to be mostly wet here, especially compared to icy and snowy Alaska. So I'd probably be better off with the Vredesteins. Maybe I'll give them a try next year, although I do like the look of the Cross Climate 2 tires.

Because not everyone needs (few actually do) 220mm of ground clearance
Because (IMHO) the RS actually looks better / more elegant
Because it'll have marginally better performance figures (0-60 + skidpad)
Because it'll have better fuel economy

The compact cladded SUV is all the hype now, but it's not unanimously loved, and there still *is* a market for practical, compact hatchbakcs which stick to the tarmac and are fun to drive. Had it been out with a 6MT,, or had it been a WRX I would have seriously considered it. Sigh.

Thanks. Even on Long Island I use winter tires on our cars. It is dry 99% of the time, but I prefer knowing we are ready for anything. My buddy in his X3M w/ A/S had a terrible time up a snowy incline driveway in Killington last year. The MY w/ winter tires was a champ.

I swapped over to running Nokian WR G4's year round. I'm interested to see how well they're going to perform as they get older but they were killer for the first two winter seasons I've had them. Not quite as good as a dedicated snow tire, but so much better than an all season.

Nice to see the RS is back. I'm sure whatever potential Impreza buyers remain will want more power as the 2.0 is the most gutless engine on earth. But realistically, I don't see them selling many of these. People who drive in snow will want the crosstrek for ground clearance. Everyone else will want an EX civic hatch for similar money that will be faster, get better fuel economy, and will probably have a higher quality interior.

We did that for our Outback, and some earlier Nokian WRs for the 2002 WRX. They were good throughout their life.
