helix dp with borla hush
Im was just wondering who was running this setup and what where the likes and dislikes they thought of it! thanks.. I did a search and found that sonicblue did this and had a write up on it. He did complain about the fitment of the 2. So should i look for a different DP? Cuz i deff. want the borla hush, but the helix just looks so nice. Maybe ill just go for it and make it work, what do ya think?

The Borla Hush was designed to mate to the stock down pipe. I know MPJ Performance and a couple other vendors sell a modified version of the Hush that mates up perfectly to flat flange 3" down pipes like the Helix.

I have them two and I love it.
I have the Helix Catless downpipe mated with the Borla Hush. Theres a fitment issue if you get the 2.5 adapter Borla Hush, but if you get the 3 inch Adapter Borla Hush, it should fit with the Helix with 0 problems. The sound of it is great, if you have a wagon, there might be a fitment issue with the borla, best way is to get some KartBoy long hangers and that should take care of it. William- |

ok thats what i wanted to hear. I have a sedan, so if i get the borla with the 3 inch fitment, it should be smooth sailing. Anyone care to give me some sites that sell the hush with the 3 inch adaptor that i need????

oh another thing is, if you did or do purchase a 2.5 inch adapter with the borla hush and want just the 3inch adapter, you can order one from Daddyscp i think is the site. They have it there!

if you have to, you can go to your local midas or merlin exhaust shop and have them custom fab a 2 bolt 3" flat flange for your hush. i had to do this to mate up to my hks DP. no bottlenecks for me, full 3". the custom adapter cost me $50 tho.

The thing I found was that it touched my transmission mount. A grinder fixed the problem. It is close to touching on two of the crossmembers but no banging sounds so far. I am still on factory mounts. The other thing is no flex joints any more. When your motor rocks, so does the entire exhaust. But it sounds so nice. A very nice low rumble at idle, you can still talk in the car at normal road speed, and a nice growl when you get on it. Mine is the catted version. I also have the Random Tech catted uppipe and a Borla header. The stock header will quite the noises from the front that I have now. Two cat Cobb Stage II and loving it, clean and fast. |
