What he said.

The wing and hood scoop are tack-ons to make up for a deficient initial design. The fact that they are functional only slightly mitigates the heavy rice/boy-racer factor. Some people actually like the gills-and-flippers Japanese boy-racer school of design. The vast majority of the world does not, I can assure you.

In reference to another thread, the Ferarri F430 has vastly superior cooling and aero and has neither gills, flippers, or tacked-on scoops. One of its drawbacks is that it can't seat four and can't hold much luggage.
