Again, are these the same stronger hubs/bearings that are in the STi? Or are they the WRX sized bearings with just a larger bolt pattern?

Oh, one more question.

Since the hubs seem to be STi sized bearings, is everything in the front suspension "STI"?

As in, do the struts have the STi width mounting tabs and STi bolt pattern? Or is it WRX stuff? Or something totally new?

The 6mt in the WRX is not the same transmission that is in the STI. The 2015 WRX uses a cable to shift gears, the STI and the previous gen WRX used rods.

It is not just the old transmission with an extra gear tossed in. They added carbon syncros for first and second gear to hopefully help with abuse and, again, cables vs rods.

The transmission is really to new to know much as far as how much power it can take before things start breaking, but I am sure we will find out.

You should probably drive both the STI and WRX to feel the difference between the transmissions, but obviously the STI is a better, more expensive gearbox that has been benchmarked and proven.

this is just speculation on my part, but to me it seems entirely plausible that the transmission in the STI is there because the old engine is there too. it may very well be that the '16 STI (or whenever they upgrade that motor) will get something more similar to the 6MT in the WRX. might be beefed up (might not be - that would be ideal because that means the 6MT in the WRX is overbuilt) - but it seems likely to me that the STI will get a redesigned cable shift transmission when/if the STI gets the updated motor

I doubt that very much. No reason Subaru couldn't use a WRX shifter in the STI now - the STI's transmission is probably really expensive. They do it cause it's an STI.

I personally thought the 2015 WRX transmission was really nice, big improvement on our old 2002.

i dont know why they'd adapt the new transmission to fit the old motor if a new motor was going to be coming out shortly thereafter. that would be the reason i speculate that they could not use the same transmission in the STI right now

If any of you local NYC/Long Island guys are interested in a brand new Autodimming Mirror with compass PM me.

I have one brand new with the wires, trims and manual sealed. Cheaper than subaruonlineparts.com

Yeah, I bitched that I wanted homelink when I picked my car up. They installed the homelink and just let me keep the autodimming mirror.

thanks for answering something already answered.

now how about my other questions asked? (hint, not in that post)
or do you only know how to regurgitate already answered questions?

and for what it's worth, the question about the difference in WRX/STi 6sp transmissions only came up on page 4, before my post. hardly constitutes "every page of this thread"

Got the H9 bulbs installed over the weekend, and they fit the fogs fine after shaving off the extra bar.

Here's one more bit of info regarding 2015 bulb replacement that I hadn't seen posted elsewhere.

If you're replacing the rear license plate lights, don't try to pop off the housing from the outside like with older generation WRX's. They'll pop off fine, but you won't be able to get the bulbs out since there's not enough room anymore.

To replace the bulbs, pop out a few of the clips holding in the liner on the inside of the trunk lid. You only need to take the liner like halfway off in order to get enough room to access the bulbs.

Heh. Yeah, that's what I thought too. I guess technically they are H16, but the problem is that not all H16 bulbs are created equally.

Turns out you need to get bulbs that have a H11 or PGJ19-3 style base on them, instead of a 5205/9009 style base which a lot of aftermarket H16 bulbs have.

Ah, that makes more sense now.
