Try cars101.com.
They have the same stuff on there that the maintenance manual has you should have received with your car. |

Same as the 2011. 7500 mile oil changes as mentioned above.
if you bought your car new it should have come with a maintenance schedule with the owners manual as well. |

Book vs MySubaru - Oil Changes
mysubaru.com is telling me I need to change the oil on my 2012 WRX every 3750 miles. The physical Service Manual says, after 7500, it's every 7500 miles. My mechanic's maintenance system also says every 7500. I'm at 11,400, and have received a notification on mysubaru.com to do the 11,250 oil change.
I'd love some input from other members here. Thoughts? Anecdotes? Stories from your childhood? Thanks! |

Really...? 1st post to the forums is to revive a thread that's been dead for over a year and a half? They're gonna LOVE you here... Read the stickies, read your manual, then get a UOA from Blackstone Labs and decide for yourself. |

First off def. read the stickys because this has been covered there and in countless amounts of threads. As for when to do your oil changes its really up to you. Like stated the owners manual (Subaru) says every 7500 miles, other people (like most shops) say between 3750 and 5000 miles. Personally I have always done my oil changes every 3000-3500 miles. I also check my oil every time I fill up for gas. So it really comes down to preference as long as your not goin over the 7500 miles that subaru recomends you should be fine. But like I said I have always done mine at 3000-3500.

Thanks for not dissing this old NOOB too badly. The discrepancy between the service manual and mysubaru.com is what prompted me to ask the question. Admittedly, I would normally expect to see some kind of closed tag, or be unable to post to this thread, if it were closed. Guess I've got some learning to do, on how this particular forum site works. Anyway, I called Subaru to ask them, and spoke with someone ridiculously polite. I was informed of the following: - an acknowledgement that the service manual says every 7500, after the first 7500 - an acknowledgement of the conflicting information from the service manual versus the notifiers on mysubaru.com - that the next oil change I'm due is at 15,000, and not 11,250 - specifically, that Subaru recommends every 7500, unless in a severe environment I'm just happy they recognize the conflicting information that they, themselves, are putting out there. Your suggestion of getting a UOA from Blackstone is excellent, and I will definitely do that. Thanks again! Last edited by rk1i; 07-15-2013 at 04:23 PM. |

Thanks for the useful info! I tend to err on the side of caution, myself, growing up with the "every 3,000 miles or it will self-destruct" mantra, and checking all fluids and tire pressure every 2 weeks. |
