2012 WRX detailing help!!
Recently got a 2012 wrx and in less than a week my 5yo nephew vomitted in it lol, my main issue is what is the best way to have the smell COMPLETELY removed!! I had the car professionally detailed and they did a great job shampooing the carpet but their is still a faint smell of puke there. Any advice on how to remedy this??

I have seen these around the net but do not personally have experience using them.
Odor Bomb http://www.autogeek.net/odor-bomb-car-fogger.html looks like you turn it on and lock it and let it do it's thing in the car not sure if anyone can speak to odor bombs, worth a shot perhaps with some more research Also did he puke on just the carpet or did it get on the seats? |

+1 for odor bomb. My brother's drunk friends all threw up in his SUV, 3 days later you'd never know. I recommend waiting more than a few hours though, let it sit for about 24 hrs.

Yea they work pretty well. I can't speak to the longevity of the smell lasting but I've heard good reviews. the detailer may not have got everything from under the carpet (ie anything that soaked through most likely wasn't pulled back up through the fibers which may be what you're smelling).

He puked on the floor mainly in the middle. In pretty sure that some of the vomit soaked thought the carpet. Where can I find odor bombs? I also read online that baking soda works

I have heard the baking soda thing. Sometimes you can buy carpet from a wreck for cheap but have to remove a lot to put it in.... thing you need to do is remove the smell not cover it up

Detailers domain actually just posted a detail job that he did on an Audi in the detailing forums. He used a product called klima clean
https://www.detailersdomain.com/mobi...ETU_p_813.html Check out autogeek and amazon for an odor bomb |

Klima clean is awesome, and I would use it in this scenario, but its not for the carpet, and not like the odor bomb. What Klima Clean is for is to clean out the A/C/Heating unit and vents. You start it and then turn your ac on recirc and let it work its way through the system and the vents. It gets rid of the mildew and funky smells you get from your ac unit inside the car. I used the older version with the hose a bunch and its great.
If there is any lingering puke smell in the vents this will kill them. Probably won't do anything for a smell coming from a carpet. |

I would say try baking soda. Super cheap and easy to find. Sprinkle on the carpet and leave an open container of it in the car.

I had a skunk incident and baking soda worked wonders. shampoo the carpet, then when dried dump a ton of baking soda everywhere. give it a few hours or day or whatever and then vacuum it up. you can also have detailers try things like Ozone but i dont know if that's just a gimmick or not

Look for Ardex Vehicle Hygienist it's amazing. Completely gets rid of any smells in the car and vents. It's basically a chlorine bomb. Just air out the car afterwards.

You might want to consider using scotch guard to protect from future accidents.

Baking soda naturally absorbs moisture so it really can suck the stink out.
Likewise, the odor bombs seem good and that z1 product used by detailers domain must be good simply because they use it. In fact, Id go to the "ask detailers domain" thread and ask your question, they do great work from what I can tell and Im sure their advise will be worth your time. |

As mentioned, 1Z Klima will do nothing to help attack the source in this scenario since it is only meant to rid odors from the vents, evaporator core, etc.
What you need is to thoroughly clean the affected area(s) of any any organic matter that is left behind that is causing the nasty odor (making sure to address all crevices, etc.). There are products that will even attack and dissolve these types of odor-causing contaminants from various materials/surfaces by utilizing enzymes, etc. Personally, I would look for specialized, professional cleaners made for this type of task (i.e. vomit removal). Here is just one example: http://www.topoftheline.com/32ozunduzit.html |

Having owned dogs, I would suggest trying Natures Miracle. I think it has some enzyme stuff that will eat away the odors naturally. I would then follow up with ZEP high traffic carpet cleaner(scrub affected area) and finally scrub with some water and dry out as much you can with wet/dry vacuum and maybe a blow dryer. Its what I've used and have had good success. Just be careful not to scrub to hard since the carpet isn't very robust.
