Default Looking for the previous owner of a recently wrecked black 2008 WRX Hatchback

My motor developed rod knock, so I picked up a salvage motor from LKQ to drop in. It listed the VIN as JF1GH756X8G821452. Just trying to connect with the previous owner, find out if anything has been done to it.

Best of luck. probably 1% of Subaru owners are on NASIOC. Chances are, this was likely, wait for it, not a forum member.

Most people also don't know their VIN's off hand. So more information is better.

The engine came from a 2008 WRX Hatchback that was wrecked...

Where?
What color?
Etc. Etc.

I know it's a slim chance but I figured WRX owners have a higher than average potential to be on this forum, either looking to tweak or repair their cars. I don't know exactly where it came from, but the salvage yard was in Leominster. It was probably from somewhere in New England, because I don't imagine salvage yards source wrecks from all over the country. That's why I made the post to the general NESIC. I'm guessing their accident happened in the last 2-3 months as whole motor assemblies generally don't sit too long in inventory. In the week I was shopping around for motors, one of the three I was looking at was purchased. Plugging into the MySubaru site said the car was black, as indicated in the post title. I certainly don't know my VIN off the top of my head, but I know I've got VINs from previous cars in emails from my insurance company. I figured the post title would be enough to grab the attention of anyone it -might- apply to, and use the VIN as confirmation.

Statistically it would be very difficult to find the original owner, but this is just a shot in the dark. They might not even drive a Subaru anymore and have no reason to come back here. At any rate, the motor is now in and working beautifully. It was more of a passing curiosity.

Whoa, that's really cool. And only that much damage totalled it? Strange, although it does explain why the passenger side timing belt cover was cracked (don't worry, camshafts still spin true)

Edit: upon closer inspection, it appears the rear airbags deployed and the back end are pretty messed up as well
