if the power enterprise 1820 is ball bearing, then why does it still take till 4000 rpm for full boost.

IHI VF turbos found in STi's are ball bearing too (except VF3x), why DO THEY also take till 4000 rpm to full boost ? Ball bearings alone have little impact on what RPM peak boost is achieved. Gas flow efficiencies, back pressure, size of turbine wheel, size of exhaust housing (P18, P20, P25) are all factors that directly affect boost characteristics. The smaller P18 housing as found in the PE1818 allows for quicker spool than the bigger P20 found in the PE1820.

Dare to even speculate how bad a lag the monster 650ps Apexi turbo with a P25 exhaust housing is going to perform ?

Life starts at 4,000 - - with 6 speeds - i never find myslef below 4,000 - - I just want more power above 4,000

Jan I thought the VF34 was the ball bearing twin of the VF30?

Perhaps it is, I wouldnt know as I hardly pay attention to factory fitted turbos these days (yawn!). Interestingly, the new Legacy B4 Twin Turbo I saw last week came fitted with twin VF33. Man, what a nightmare it must be if something goes wrong with that engine! Two VF33 hooked to one small intercooler - my god! disaster waiting to happen.
