Default nj building n00b wants to build his own gaming desktop

bad company 2 kills my current desktop so i need a new one. i want to overcome my fear of building my own box so hardware and assembly recommendations more than welcome.

bad company 2 recommended specs below but would like to build beyond it.

Recommended Specs
Processor: Quadcore
Main memory: 2GB
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 260
Graphics memory: 512MB
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7

i need everything, power supply, case, cooling, etc

want to try to keep < $1000, possible??
