CE PO171--too lean bank one???
I put in a new K&N filter on my homemade intake (I made my own maf adapter out of an old iceman intake) and I started getting this code. Has anyone seen this before? If I use my old filter(very dirty) it wont happen. Although it did happen one time a while ago when I first tried to clean the old filter and then it never happened again.
If anyone could help me understand this code I would appreciate it. thanks byron

I've had this CEL pop up regularly in the past couple months. I haven't been able to pinpoint the problem yet. It could be leaky vacuum hoses as some of the others have said. I don't know if it has something to do with the intake or not. I'm running a Cold Air Intake from MRT so that might be it. But the thing is that I ran with the CAI for the a few thousand mile and then all of the sudden it just starts coming on regularly. I'm checking all of my vacuum hoses carefully this weekend and then switching out my CAI for the stocker intake to see if the CEL still comes on.

Making your own intake is dangerous unless you know exactly what you are doing. There are alot of factors that go into what and how that MAF sensor is measuring airflow. Chances are more air is flowing than the MAF sensor is reading, and your cel is correct, you are running lean. Could be other factors as well, someone above mentioned a leak in the intake after the MAF, that is a good posibility too.
