My goal is to improve handling even if it results in a harsher ride. I'd like more low end grunt and quicker response as opposed to a peaky high end
grenade tune. I dont want to sacrifice the everyday driveability at the expense of all out performance.
So looking for thos ethat have used DRACO Performance here in mooresville as well as others in near by area for their feedback.
Draco is not only right around the corner from you and the type of low end response youre looking for is their bread and butter. Their facility is cleaner than most hospitals. If you have suspension needs Im pretty sure they are the only tuner shop in the area, possibly in the region that has a "0" platform. I highly suggest Draco due to their knowledge in motorsports and their awesome customer service.

My experience with Draco Performance has been awesome. They put a 18g turbo with supporting mods on my stock WRX and the difference is amazing! After install/tune support has been great too. They patiently have answered all my questions whenever I email them with off the wall stuff.

Barry Bodine tunes all the cars that come thru their shop and I'm certain he'll give you exactly what you want. Leslyn is your initial contact and knows her stuff as well so give her a call or email.

If you haven't already you might want to look them up in the vendor review section. There's some good feedback there as well.

Area? Yes. Region? No. Boxer4Racing will also help you out with any suspension needs.

+1000 for Draco. They're the only one's that have touched my STi since I bought it in 2007. Many favors and a couple broken axles (torque and a itchy left foot) later, they're still my go to place. If the Time Attack twins are any example, suspension and tuning are like bread and butter for Draco.

let's not get into a debate about who's better...they're both reputable mechanics that own great shops. If he lives near Draco then there you go, it's a no brainer. If he lived closer to Dale at B4R then that would be his obvious choice.

Agreed, can't say I've heard anything negative about Dale. In fact, I saw that B4R Imprezza on Tryon yesterday.

Youre right about suspension needs, but I left out what I was actually going for. They have a "0" platform for suspension tuning.

Thanks to all for feedback. I knew of DRACO and had been ion contact with them. Very helpful on phone but wanted to know of other options. Just to make an informed decision rather than just go with ease of access and overlook another good option.

Draco isn't the only shop in the Charlotte area. Give Motion Lab a call. See if you get a "warm fuzzy" after talking to Alex and/or Todd. They will definitely sit down with you and plan out any and everything you want, in detail. They also beat anyone's prices on all parts!!

I got my car tuned by Todd and he spent several hours (got finished around 9:30pm b/c Todd is so picky with his tunes!) on the road tuning my car just so it would be safe to get home and back to the shop at a later date (didn't have time to go to the dyno that particular day). I went back to the dyno later, and again, several hours later, I ended up with an amazing tune that put down some great numbers, and on the street, the car feels amazing. Todd even drove my car around on the street for a while after the tune just to make sure things on the street were in check. Customer service and support after the sale has been top notch as well!

I'd definitely keep all options open and give Alex a call!!!

Why are the #$$%$# shops that everyone loves and trusts all the way up in North Carolina...=P All these Florida people hatin' on all wheel drive....

Anyone around my area have a tuner they trust?

Still at a loss here in Tallahassee, looks like Jacksonville has nothing to offer right now, and the nearest shops that I can find really positive information about are in Marietta (6 hours), or Charlotte (8 hours) from me....any of you guys slipping through north Florida in the future? I'll even pay for your hotel room....will be a hell of a lot less than taking 3-4 days off and driving to Charlotte...=P

Hey Mikey, thanks for the reply. The STi comes off the truck the 12th, so I'll probably have to catch you next time through town unless you recommend tuning one with <100 miles on it. I work for the dealer group that now owns Subaru in Tallahassee, so I'm sure I'll be in touch. Plan on putting about 325-340 to the ground in this hatch, so we'll be PayPal buddies soon....

Call me if you wanna stop by Tallahassee for anything when you come by, even if it's just to see the facility and meet the Subie guys!

Sounds good dude!! In regards to mile-age, drive the first 100 miles off boost, drop the oil, switch to Rotella T6 15w40 and get tuned. If you search through nasioc you can see what the 11's and 12's are producing in terms of dyno curves. Even on 93, they knock so hard at peak torque the graph looks like a shark tooth, lol.

I'm in FL every month. If we can't meet, Ill definitely hook you up via e-tune then check the car out in person when I'm down next.

Be good and congrats on the purchase!!

I already have an AP ready for when the car comes in, so I was going to drive the first 100 then at least flash it to the Cobb stock tune to alleviate the god awful emissions garbage that comes out of the box. God it's going to be hard to stay out of the throttle for 100 miles....
