Who had the Flowmaster muffler?
All right... fess up! I want to ask a few questions... who had it?
1. What series do you have? 30, 40, 50, Deltaflow or racing? 2. what size? 2", 2.25", or 2.5"? 3. How loud is it? How does it sound?

I also have a Flowmaster. Travis and I both have the same model, #942451 (I believe). It's a Series 50 DeltaFlow with the 3 chambers. Good sound, great throttle response, and it didn't break the bank. I got the whole cat-back done at a local shop for about $175.
Forrest (Exchange Guy) has a Dynomax muffler on a custom cat-back. I think he spent about $100 on his. That muffler is cylindrical, whereas the Flowmaster is flat with rounded sides. Travis and I have 2.25" piping. It doesn't feel much different off the line, but it revs much faster to redline. Forrest opted to go with 2" to try and get better torque off the line. I've also noticed a slight increase in mileage with the new system. Sound is awesome. I got rid of my custom 2.25" Magnaflow system from Rallispec because it resonated too much from 55-90. Not acceptable for road trips over an hour long, which I tend to take at least once a month. The Flowmaster is pretty quiet at idle, but sounds so sweet when you get on the gas. Deep, throaty, and aggressive. Nothing like a Honda! Plus, it doesn't give me a headache! I also don't have to adjust the volume of the stereo at cruizing speeds, like I did with the Rallispec. As far as the rust issue goes, time will tell. I've only had it a month or less. I plan on painting it with black high-temp paint eventually. Travis had painted his, but the weld joints have started to get some surface rust. If you couldn't tell by my rant, I'm loving it! If you're worried about rust, save your money and get a good stainless system. If you're like me and want to save your $$ for other things, I say go for it. Adam |
