I am leaving for a road trip to Colorado tonight from Minnesota so I will be able to report a lot of pure highway MPG figures.

Dont have any factual data but a cvt is going to have better gas mileage over a manual.

Combined daily driving on local mountain roads and 4 lane [RT33] here in the poconos' 32-34 mpg on my 26x2=52 mile daily drive with my 13 sport CVT. It only has 27xx or so miles on it yet.

do you want hand calculated values or what the car says the mpg is?

Define "highway"

If we are talking 55-60mph I can vote close to 40, but if we see talking 70+ then I can vote between 31-33

It absolutely is. The dash readout on ours is about 3 mpg high. Depending on what people use to answer the poll is going to make a difference.

I figure mpgs should be calculate by filling the tank, driving your normal routes the way you normally drive and repeating the process for a bit. theres enough range in the poll to pick a fairly accurate choice even if you're off by a percent or two.

I've been getting 24-25 mpg with some highway and lots of city. I live in the central city and work in downtown. Rush hour traffic, cold weather, and winter gas haven't been kind to the mpg. I haven't been on a road trip yet or driven in the summer, so I'm sure I'll see an improvement.

I'm dreading summer, when I have to use the ac and lose a good few mpg's...
Winter time means better mpg's here
Plus-winter is like having a "free cold air intake" hahhah

Same here. I voted 35-37 for highway because that's what I get at a typical highway pace (60-65), but I often do better on rural roads at 45-55 mph.

Several options in this poll just aren't going to happen, short of a miracle or serious problems.

Made it to Colorado today. MPGs were right around 28mpg hand calculation which is about 3% less than the car's calculation. I was kind of disappointed but I was driving 75 mph with the cruise set and had a snowboard rack. I did notice that when I started I was on a highway that was 55 mph and I was getting a nice 35 mpg reading. I can give a more detailed update when I get back from shredding these mountains supposed to be some nasty weather. I'm excited. Sent from my iPhone.

Interesting. so far, this shows that the MT5 gets on average 3 to 4 mpg better than the CVT compared to its EPA estimate. Here's what it is as of right now, with 61 vehicles reporting:

MTH 35.63
CTH 34.50
MTM 30.00
CTM 28.50
MTC 26.25
CTC 24.75

Showing that (using the sedan ratings with MTH at 34 vs. 33) not only does the MT get better mpg than the CVT, but the MT exceeds its EPA estimate where the CVT, again, does not. The MT averages 1.625 above its EPA estimate, the CVT averages 1.75 below.

Thanks for starting this poll!

Your average is off. That's not 61 vehicles. That's 61 votes. You forget the poll allows for multiple answers per voter. For instance I picked 3. One city, one mixed and one highway. That's 3 for 1 vehicle. So unless you know how many people voted you don't have a per vehicle average.

i think i voted for like 7 or 8 options because it wasn't clearly defined and i can get different numbers depending on speed.

You're correct, it's 61 votes. My mistake. I gave equal weighting to each category though, and with that I don't see how my average is off. What did you get?

Sorry, not trying to argue. The number you have is indeed correct. However it's not a true status as we don't know how many vehicles are in the poll. For all we know it's 6 cars. That's not a good base for a stat. Let's just let people post their mpg's here and not try to prove this or that. That is why I left the other thread.
