Default A-LO-ha...oy! A-LO-ha-OY!

Got signoff this morning and just booked my business trip to Waikiki, b1tc4e5!!!!

Now......what in THE hell does one do on a plane for 8 hours?? The first three-hour leg I can manage, but EIGHT after that? Ugh. And the three days I'll spend there should be JUST enough time for my body to start to accomodate to the 6 hour time difference, and then be completely effed up upon my return home, where I'll jump back on a plane down to NC for a marital getaway weekend.

Buy some of those hermetically-sealed magazines for the trip.

Yep, pretty much. Make sure you have the proper power supply (DC) to use your laptop on planes. No battery is going to withstand eight hours of in-flight pr0n.

Yes, I am. My longest plane flights include Philly to SF (3 times now, I think) and Boston to Puerto Rico (once). What can I say... However, this 8-hour leg will come after a 3+ hour leg, so I'm looking at two 11-12-ish-hour days of air travel, which does NOT psyche me up.

Oh, and I don't have choice of location. Our client is in Waikiki, so that's where I'm going.

What airline? What class of service? Many long-hauls will have personal video screens including many movies/TV selections and video games. That'll keep you busy for awhile - or just read a book.

American, Coach, Boeing 767-300 for the long stretch. Going out, my seat is the right aisle seat of the center seats. Going back, I have the aisle seat of the far right seats. Based on AA's site seat maps and tech info, there aren't individual screens and my seats are NOT convenient to power ports.

I believe the only answer is drugs.......lots of drugs......

Yeah, it's the shorter flights that bore the hell out of me. Flying across an ocean is easy between movies, books and sleeping.

This is why U.S. airlines suck balls for long haul flights.

My steerage seat on Cathay-Pacific had an individual video screen (with more movies, CDs, TV shows and Video Games than I could view in 15 hours) and a personal power port for laptop/DS.

Have some booze and try to sleep.

I fly so rarely I hate to invest that kind of $$, but....any good moderately-priced models?

I've tried Tylenol PM before, no real results. Flying red-eye SF to Philly (and I worked REALLY hard to be tired by the time that flight took off), I think I slept a couple hours. I think I need a neck pillow, too.
