Default Ft-86 II teaser pic released

New Toyota concept to hint at next sports car

Brussels - The 2011 Geneva motor show will mark the premiere of a new evolution of the FT-86 sports concept vehicle presented for the first time at the 2009 Tokyo motor show. The FT-86 II concept will give the clearest indication yet of the final design for Toyota's next sports car. Toyota has over 50 year-long history of creating exciting sports cars, and this new concept embodies the company's reborn passion for sports car driving.

Looks like the hood is taller than the original concept and not turbocharged (I don't see an intercooler). And of course that is definitely a Toyota badge, not Scion. The production version will be revealed completely in March.

/Mods can delete if this violates the "no ft-86" rules.

i'm so tired of ft86 news. when the idea was released, i had no kids, made good money and wanted a coupe. After all these years and delays, I seem to have grown out of the coupe concept. Toyota are absolute buffoons for not releasing this car when the market was hot.

Lots of people also forget that Toyota owns Lexus. And Lexus has some very, very good performing cars. LF-A anyone? Think trickle down.

That is all.

But the stuff from the LF-A trickling down into something less than a tenth of its price will take a while... and it's not going to be anything big either.

A limited run, over-priced, ugly looking car that is only as fast as cars that are half it's price? that LF-A?

Yeah, the 400K to 20K gap is a BIG one. that isn't 0.1x, that is 0.05x the price.

IS-F is ok... but is still gaudy looking, and only comes with an 8-speed slush-box, not even an automated clutch gearbox, and also not a coupe, while being too small to be a real practical sedan like the GS.

What else does Lexus have that is so "very-very good performing?"

Not like they have a compelling IS-based SC... or having them just be one-in-the-same-thing.

For real. The FT-86 is like the automotive version of Dr. Dre's Detox album, if you catch my drift.

Maybe it'll have a monkey in the trunk for dynamic weight distribution.

Every year there's a magazine article about Detox actually coming out. BUT consider this: Duke Nukem Forever is supposedly being released this May. Another Detox release rumor has started. Now this FT-86 teaser photo.

ITS THE END OF THE WORLD.

Did Axl Rose's Chinese Democracy album ever come out? If it did, was it worth the wait?

(Guns N' Roses without Slash, is like a Subaru without AWD. In-name-only.)

Looks decent so far... but then again, it's washed out so there's not much to get to fussy about yet.
