Default noob to the legacy

I am looking/researching for mods I plan to do to my 1991 legacy wagon. Its the AWD version although I am not sure if its the L series or the LS.

Anyways it has a 2.2L in it and I was wondering what a intake silencer removal would do to the car. I.E. would a pull a CEL and does it has a MAF or a MAP sensor???

I want to give it some small power mods but I don't really know what do to after the Intake job. But really focus on the suspension after that.

Can anyone give me some tips for power?

removing the snorkus wont give a cel. its not a power mod either. for power the usual rules apply. it most likely has maf. if your engine bay looks like THIS (assuming you have the good ol ej22) than you have maf.

Ok I understand the snorkus doesn't give you power but it does give you better response doesn't it??

You've ruined my dreams... Ok well what CAN I do to squeeze some power out of it? I am looking for only like a 20hp gain. Just something fun...\

And on that intake plan I don't really know what to do with it but I am not going to spend a small fortune on a stupid CAI.

well if you have maf you can get some pretty good gains. (confirm that you have maf) you can always make your own intake man. K&N panel filter in the airbox and some cheapo tubing from the local hardware store can go places with an maf car

Well thats kinda what I had in mind. I will figure it out when I have the time to actually do it. But other than the intake, Is there much else worth doing to it?
I just want a little get up and go Hp. Nothing huge because I want to focus on my suspension after that.

full exhaust will get you some good gains but i dont think its worth the money. lightened crank pulley is supposedly pretty good. pick up a mr. josh one for about $90.

Replace the spark plugs and wires.

Modifying the intake is a complete waste of time.

There are gains to be had in the exhaust, but think 2-5hp, maybe.

20 extra horse will require cams and exhaust. Unless you're rebuilding the engine, not really worth the trouble.

Give it some nice suspension and leave the powertrain alone.

You can remove the snorkus from the fenderwell. I think it does yield better throttle response. Other then that, don't mess with the intake.

You do have a MAF sensor, and I'd probably just second what scott said. There's things that can be done, but you're not really going to get any real power from them....and they're all pretty pricey.
