Funny story this morning......so i woke up at 7:45 and had my exam at 8. so I rushed down to my parking deck and got in my car cold start. Now usually i let my car warmup for about 2-5 min before i even move it. So i rool out my deck and get to the turning lane light. Well this lane is like the one where both sides turn green but i have to wait until traffic is clear soooooo i just kinda gunned it and cut everyone off and then i hear a loud boom sound like a shot gun went off (LOL) well my car had a big back fire and my silencer in my exhaust launched out of the back and smacked some dudes car :/ it was a parked car. Normally i would have stopped and put my info down but i had to get to my exam (side note....i was only 3 min late ) but after my exam i went back and the car was gone. So i guess its a win win, but i feel poopy about it......(side note #2.....my car sounds awesome now )

Lmao....

I once had a supercharged mr2 that sort of did that. The muffler was so rusty it just blew that apart instead. Sparks shot out like a rooster tail though, lol.

It also made the car sound awesome, lmao!

Oh, and is that not the loudest backfire ever? It will scare the $#!+ out of you......

I just wanted to let everyone know about this event the Team Havok car club is hosting to benefit the Save Mitchell campaign to help Mitchell Lyne and his family with the medical expenses and treatment to save the new kidney he received from a donor. About a month ago, his bloodwork started showing signs that his antibodies are working against the new kidney and his family is in need of help to get him treated. Their insurance isn't going to cover the costs of his medicine which is why we're going to host a charity fund raiser to donate to his family.

One of the members of the Havok Car Club actually used to babysit for Mitchell which is why this event is very important and dear to our hearts. Below is the FB event page for it.

Speaking of buying a subie, while me and my dad were at Hooters I spotted an 04/05 WRB STi going down Broad Street with a big yellow sticker on the top right side of the windshield. I also noticed a couple more of those stickers on other cars while starring at the traffic. Then I took my dad down the street to the alphabet store(ABC), and while waiting in the parking lot for him I saw that same STi again at the Victory used car place across the street. I assume it was the same one, it didn't have the yellow sticker on it anymore but all the other cars there did.

Would have been a perfect time for a Subie Love type of buisness card with all the information a person needs to find this thread and what not.

This seems like as good a thread as any for a quick intro. I am an Rva native currently living near short pump. I just got my 2nd Subie and work has slowed down enough that I can finally start enjoying it more. Ive probably seen a few of y'all driving around the area but it would be nice to put a face with a car. Are the cars and coffee meets still going on on Saturdays?

Funny story-
So Saturday I had to work till 1pm, I get off and see said STI at the Vicrory place and wanted to quickly check it out. This tall, maybe Russian salesman comes out and starts to chat me up. I tell him it's a clean ride but I'm not about to buy it because I have one already (I was driving my 3 series at the time.) He begins to ask about my car (model year, color, etc.) and suddenly says "I bet this one is faster." Me: The salesman starts trying to egg me on to "go and get my car so we can line up at the traffic light on Broad Street and can race to the intersection of Parham and Broad." I basically told the guy that was the dumbest thing anyone has ever said to me and I didn't understand why he was calling me out. He makes the request again and I finally told him if he wants to race for some cash I'd gladly meet him at Richmond Dragway on a test and tune night. He declined

I also asked him about what kind of suspension is on the thing and all he kept telling me was "its a $3,000 set-up"

I'm pretty sure that is the subie the guy at momentum auto used to drive (not sure if he is the owner or an employee). Also guessing this is the suspension setup.

Edit: nvm just read the caption... its "Lex's 05 STI"

Seen here again racing, so I'm sure it hasn't been an easy life for that subie

Also, if its the same one I'm thinking of it was/is running a BOV setup.

Their are pictures of a blown Subaru engine on their Facebook as well, not sure if its the same one, doesn't say, but if it was it might have a built motor.

This is fun, I think I missed my calling as an automotive investigator
