![]() So I’ll I’m try to keep this short and sweet, I punch it in 2nd to let the ponies loose and once it gets to around 4000rpms it starts to sputter and won’t let me accelerate any faster, but if I gradually speed up (either shift early or even just don’t wind it out ) it doesn’t do it. And I am NOT getting a CEL. Any thoughts and advice of course would be greatly appreciated
She has 75000 miles on it oil change and air filter have just been done

![]() What does it have for mods?
Sounds like it's either misfiring, getting unmetered air, or has a vacuum leak. Giving the age of the car possibly all of them. Do the following: Replace your plugs and make sure they are gapped properly Check your turbo inlet for tears. If still OEM, replace as these are known to become brittle with age Replace MAF sensor Clean throttle body Check coil packs for proper function Replace vacuum lines as they are going to be brittle at this age If it has a rough or inconsistent idle, clean IACV |

![]() Thanks for the input guys I’m changing the other three Spark plugs now,
Just bought it about a month ago , i drove it home from Vancouver BC to Prince Rupert BC just below Alaska (about a 16 hour trek) and all seemed to be fine, opened it up a Couple times In 5th gear but wasn’t honkin on the motor by any means as I’m new to Subbys. The CEL came on about half way home (where the symptoms started) so I took it easy on her the rest of the way. When I got home I plugged in my code reader and I got a misfire on cylinder 2 so I changed the spark plug on it aswell as an oil change (a litre and a half if that of the blackest oil I’ve ever seen came out of the poor thing) fired it up and seemed too be all Gravey. Had no CEL and sounded A lot better then it did so I took it to the highway tryed again and still a studder/power loss with it in 2nd and going about 85% on it. No CEL this time.Thought maybe fuel filter at first but again I’m new to these machines. |

![]() As far as mods go All the guy Said it had was aftermarket struts , Cobb turbo and Cobb exhaust. He didn’t seem to know much about it just wanted it sold so his son wouldn’t kill himself in it. No rust and good shape underneath low Kim’s so I bought it. I can see a Cobb heat shield and boot off to the left Below the inter cooler

Does it have a proper tune? Does it have supporting mods for this turbo? A Cobb turbo is a 20g size turbo I believe and that requires quite a lot of supporting mods and a pro tune to run properly. You need to find someone who specializes in Subaru cars and get this car fully looked over. If you don't know what you have you're playing with fire. |
