Question Ottawa: Leasing a WRX?

Hello, I'm looking to lease a WRX with in the next couple of weeks and need some advice from you Subaru folk. I went to Otto's last night to check out prices and they didn't seem too willing to talk price. They were really trying to push that Yellow Spec R1 (?) they had in the show room. I like the wheels and the short shifter but the colour is too flashy for me. Part of the reson I like the WRX is because it is a sleeper so I don't want the attention that the yellow would bring on the highway. Do members of the NCSC get a discount on vehicles? Has anyone has luck negotiating a lease payment with local dealers? I don't mind shopping outside of Ottawa if it means saving a few thousand dollars. Otto's aslo didn't have any sedans in stock (the blue one they have is sold) other than the yellow ones and they said it would take 2-4 weeks to get another one in. Is it normal for them to take that long to get?

On a side note, I tried to sign up for the NCSC message forum but still haven't been approved. Who can I email about this?

Thanks,
Aaron

As far as I understand both Westboro (Otto's) and Olgivie do not
deal much. People have had much better luck with (in order of
proximity to Ottawa) Gatineau, Lachute, and Marino's (Toronto)
if you are willing to travel. Check out the Toronto Subaru Club
board for more info about Marino's.

YJGUY,
if you want to try Subaru Gatineau, let me know, I'll hook you up with Denise, the owner. That where I got my car, very good service and friendly dealership (they installed my STi clutch/Flywheel).

Send me your full name, coordinate and availability and I'll ask her to give you a call. -> [email protected]

YJGUY, are you a member of the NCSC? If not, it may take longer to received your password. I suggest you join the club, fill in the membership form at www.ottawasubaru.com. You're more than welcome to drop by our meet Thursday.

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks guys. Doh! I didn't realize that you had to be a member to join that forum. I just went back to the site and noticed that it said that. Oops... Anyway, Matt I'll PM you later with the details.

I'd like to go to the meeting on Thursday, I'll have to see if I can get out of my other plans. Are the meetings organized or it is just sitting around BSing? Not that there is anything wrong with that, it's just some clubs tend to get waaaay off topic and end up having 5 hour meetings.

I've had the WRX itch since the Subaru ride and drive event at Race track last year. I'm finally in a position to have one for myself and I'm pretty excited!

Thanks again,
Aaron

Hey,
no problem, I'll wait for you info. The meet basically takes place at a Restaurant. We usually advertise upcoming activities like the rally Ste-Agathe of this week-end and group buy. This week, we'll be installing parts on a member's WRX as well.

Yeah, we do talk a lot...

Don't know too much about leasing but Ottos gave me a good deal on a purchase. I was going to have to wait 2 - 3 months, so I'd say 2 - 4 weeks isn't too bad. Call around and see what kind of other prices you can get, then go to the local dealers when you have something to bargin with.

Cheers

Why not just bite the bullet and buy it. Sell it in a couple of years if you want. Leasing sucks. my $0.02

You'll be working this week instead of talking!

Tom is installing a few things on his WRX (considering his car is constantly being modified!) at the meet (rear sway bar, etc.....).

Leasing does have it's up's and down's, that's for sure. I'd rather free up my cash right now for other things. I know it will cost more in the end.
I understand the modification bug. My YJ didn't stay stock for long. I've swapped the (2.5L 4cyl to 4.0L 6cyl) motor, transmission, rebuilt the t-case, swapped in a stronger rear axle, regeared, added lockers F/R, custom suspension, built a 6 point cage, on board air to run air tools etc etc. The last run I went on I lost my brakes and had to do a little parking lot fix myself.

Here is my current ride. That is my friend John helping fix the brakes after I lost them driving out of the trail near Calabogie. I damn near ended up in the lake.

See you guys at the meeting tomorrow.

Aaron
