2009 WRX rear replacement shocks
I need to replace my OEM already soft set. I was told by a tech that I could install the STI shocks and ride better.
I don't want lowering or stiffer than OEM STI, so, where may I get those assemblies or what is the closest thing?

I would not replace just the rears with STI if that's what you're asking.
Front STI won't fit. I would consider replacing all 4 corners. |

You NEED to replace the full set of four or the car will not handle properly.
If you want OEM, then go to a dealer, either at the dealer counter or online. Numerous dealerships sell parts on-line. They offer a lower price than counter sales BUT you will have to add in shipping costs so bear that in mind. You have a WRX, not an STi. STi will ride stiffer than a WRX. They will ride better because yours are failing but that doesn't mean that is what you actually want for you. Lots of options on strut replacements. There are threads on many different options here in the Suspension forum. Read through the more recent ones and choose the one that sounds right for you. |

Thanks for your input. I've been checking options and even talked to KYB support, very informative. Their replacements are over 10% firmer than OEM, so the STI's replacements are stiffer yet.
I'll try this, KYB's WRX replacement with standard height King springs; I'm always carrying stuff in the back, including camping/beach gear and sometimes my tool boxes. I hope it becomes much better. My fronts are OEM type replacements with a couple of years, if the ride becomes weird, I'll be adding King springs later. |

I found only two sites with King springs and their shipping options are too high for me, I live in Puerto Rico. I'm trying to negotiate.
In the mean time, I found that there are two OEM types, one of them marked as "Tuner pkg", also described for the WRX SS. What is the difference with the SS designation? |

Can't really find a definitive answer on what the " SS " designation means but it definitely exists.
Go to parts.subaru.com and you can finds parts for an " SS " designated model. " SS " could mean: - Premium - Sport Tuned Suspension - Sirius Satellite, although I HIGHLY doubt it. |
