Default STi exhaust on a Forester?

So I own a 2001 Subaru Forester L. I want to put an STi exhaust that I just have laying around on my forester. Unfortunately I know it doesn’t bolt straight up and I will need to make some modifications. However I am asking if anyone know if it’s worth it or not. If I put it on my forester will I have the desired Subaru rumble? Or should I just look into getting a catback exhaust?

Rumble comes from unequal length headers. Only you can know what’s “worth it”.

It all depends on what year sti It came from. Your forester is a couple inches longer so that puts the tip under or close to under the bumper which can/will melt it. I’m sure with a little fab an extension could be made. The PO of my forester xt did that and I had to replace the rear bumper cover. I didn’t have to but my OCD made me.

I put one on my wifes 98 Forester.

The only thing it added was a few hundred back in my pocket since I had it lying around and her stock muffler rusted out.

Not worth it IMHO.

Yeah, but what if you've got a stock bugeye CBE and a 1999 Forester that could accept that exhaust, eh?

This would not give you the rumble. Its going to sound more or less the same.
