Default What's the weight of R160 or 180?

Yes, I did search, but couldn't find the weight of rear differential - any idea what the weight is? I am aware that 5 speed transmission weighs about 130lbs while 6sp weighs about 250lbs.

Thanks in advance

I had an R180 shipped to my house and the shipping weight was something like 83lbs. I don't know the exact weight, but it's not lightweight.

Also, are you sure the trannys are that different in weight? I thought it was a 100lb difference between the whole setup? Maybe not.

My shipping receipt for my 6spd transmission without linkage, clutch, or cross-member says 190 lbs.

I can lift a 6spd by myself. It's hard, but I can do it. Because of this, I know it's not 250 lbs.

This sounds more like it. I've heard numerous times that there is a 12 lbs difference between the two. I'll have a 6MT, a 5MT, an R160 and a R180 to weigh here in a couple of weeks. Then we can put the question to bed.

Yeah I did the swap on my FXT a couple months ago, they werent that different.

Now the tranny... The difference between the 5MT and 6MT is insane. The 6MT feels twice as heavy

5MT=I can pick it up myself
6MY=me and my buddy pick it up together, and it sucks.

I can vouch for this. Had the 6mt fall on my hand and my foot and its heavy as hell. But having the strength, gear ratios i love make it all worth it.

It is absurd when you get the 5MT out and you set the two next to eachother on the ground. They look like they are from different cars completely.

Driving the 6MT though is nice. It feels ROCK SOLID.

Almost 9 year bump.....

The various diffs will likely be within about 10lbs of each other. Empty of fluid vs. filled is likely more of a difference.
Weight of a 5MT vs. any 6MT will be MUCH different.

I wonder why the OP wanted to know.
