i didn't get to see the pully...but i was so vexed reading that my pulley failed.

a few theories:

1. rock thrown around in lower front engine bay and gouged the pulley?
2. belt actually failed and the dealer is using the pulley as a cover to honor my warranty?
3. defective pulley that finally failed.

any other ideas? lol

The pulley is a harmonic damper (at least they used to be) I imagine the rubber bit between the metal inner and outer probably let go. Have seen it on a few older ones. Not much to really go wrong.
