Gotcha!

I had an idea born from ebay...lol, I saw this flexible LED cord type thing that was very bright. I thought if that could be ran through the C reflector it would be ideal.

I will look for a link...

Great write up, it's hard to find a well documented breakdown these days. Can you post a photo of the cut-off with the HID's in the halogen/projector housing?

I did so in the merged 2015 forum in News and Rumors. The headlamps are angled 12% I believe from the factory, and I put them an extra 15% further to prevent blinding oncoming traffic. So far they have been successful on the road with no concern.

Yes, this isn't a retrofit.

Surprisingly they don't appear too terrible even with the squirrel finder illumination.

No one has opted for the amber reflector removal while you're in there yet?

Actually the amber reflectors just pop right out. Personally, I like the look of them being in there as odd as it might sound. Black and Orange have a standout colour, so I put them right back on, otherwise, they're easily deleted from the assembly.

So where does one acquire replacements that aren't amber?

I would imagine in the next few months you'll be able to plug it with black, carbon fiber, or just smoked out inserts. It is just the first few weeks afterall. Plus not all vendors have gotten their hands on it yet, so there's a lot we're still looking forward to.

Great work in all honesty, but there's no shot that cutoff pic is 8000 Kelvin.

That's what I thought as well. A limited WRX landed the same day mine did and so I got a good chance to look at the headlamps next to each other. At that point I didn't want to wait for a pair of limited headlamps to go on sale. Just make them now.

For anyone that has performed this mod and opened the lights, does it appear that us non-Limited owners may be able to place a custom LED inside to mimic the same effect?

Well, mine is a base model non-limited, so, I can confirm that LED lights can be installed where the "C" plastic is. I will probably be looking at something like this once I make the time and space in my garage to re-unassemble everything.

That's a good idea. For example a strong 194/168 LED routed into some tubing or acrylic rod that would carry the light in a more unified fashion around the entire C. All of this can likely be hidden directly behind the C plastic cover. Caked in between it and the reflector channel below.

Something very similar to what one of my friend's over at LegacyGT did recently:

nice write up! Im confused on the lights though....the base and premium both use halogen for the C and the headlights, and the limited uses led for the C and headlights?
