Default Stage 1/2 Questions

I'm Jace, I live in houston, and I've got a 2015 subi which i love

https://imgur.com/a/YEJzqAZ

contrary to most subis i see out here I'm trying to go in a more off-road direction with a future build to include certain things:

4 pot brake conversion, fozzy/ crosstrek springs, geolandars, and 15-16 inch wheels for stance

Thoughts?

Also, I am considering starting to do power mods as well...

How are "stages" calculated?

Im confused also about the accessport... Do i need to do all the prequesite mods in order to go stage 2 or is it possible to overlook some (like CAI)

I don't want to get into cold air intake because... houston, and also deep mud
I would like to do a J pipe and possibly some other mods to push it close to STI specs.

Hope to be seeing you guys soon!

There is no real "calculation" to the stages. At least for the Cobb stage packages. The "stages" are more or less marketing.

For your car I believe all you need for stage 2 is a downpipe and the access port to flash Cobb's tune. The "CAI" shouldn't be required but don't take my word for it, go to the Cobb website and look up your specific vehicle. They will explicitly list what mods you need and don't need to run their maps.

And your intuition is right about the CAI. Just don't. If the 2015+ wrx is like the older ones, the intake that comes from the factory is already technically a CAI. The snorkel at the front is already sucking cold air in from the outside and not the hot air from the engine bay. On top of that, it is well documented on the forums that the stock intakes are actually pretty good and can easily handle the power gained from Cobb staged tunes.
