Default Factory Nav Question

I just got a 2008 with the factory nav system. Is there a way to disable the "agreement" screen that you have to agree to every time it boots up? Not a huge deal if you can't, just figured I'd ask.

The agreement screen is the biggest PITA.

I've been wanting to figure out how to disable that and make navigation fully functionable while driving. Whats the point of having it if you have to stop to input new directions?

I haven't looked at the wiring for the nav yet and won't be able to for a few more days but is there a way to some how trick it so you can get full functions of nav while driving?

Pull up the e-brake slightly (barely half an inch...brakes wilL NOT engage) that will allow you to continue watching a DVD movie and id assume edit other features.

That can work until a permanent fix is found. Do you know if the nav goes in to a chip to see if e-brake is pulled or is it wired to the e-brake it self?

I dont know for sure, but the Navi will also work if you come to a complete stop out of gear. It also locks when in reverse.

If I remember correctly, it goes in to a limited state after 10mph also. Can you verify this?

I hate having the car in the shop!

Pull the radio out and find out where all the leads go. Bypass the radio just like an aftermarket unit. The VSS disable is almost impossible to do...I work for people who made that radio.

All I have to do is search for something on bypassing the radio on an aftermarket unit and this will provide a permanent fix for using navigation?

The VSS disable is almost impossible... which means it is possible.

2,000 is the markup from premium package. MRSP is just above 28 if I remember correctly.

Also to the OP. If you really want to make the 2008 look even better, there are three things you should do.

First off, purchase the sport grille from subaru. The current stock one is...

Second, repaint the back silver thing to color of car.

Third, put red vinyl on the tail lights. There have been a few postings with people who have done this. I'm sure you would be able to do this, or at least know some one who can do this!

Then again, if you don't care about doing any of the above. Enjoy your new ride as it is amazing! I love mine, and didn't realize how much I did until it was in the shop for almost two weeks now

The handbrake related functions can be resolved using a bypass module such as the TR-7 IIRC. I don't have the diagrams to this system at my fingertips right now. The VSS disable is based on a software program sequence and even I may not be able to get it from the engineers. It is possible, but not likely.

Thats not entirely true. The subaru has to have that disclaimer working porperly when the car is sold. You can bypass the disclaimer, its illegal for you watch video when the car is in motion on the road. If it was a "federal law" how come there is so many companies offering to remove the disclaimer along with other things?

I believe navtv makes most of the units out there to bypass/intergrate into factory nav. Its possible they are in the process or have already made a unit for the subarus.

Ok, today I tried to watch a DVD in my new Hatch. I was able to watch it for my entire drive to dinner tonight, but ever since it wont work. It goes right to Navi if I drive.

So the e-brake trick works once and never again!?

You can not bypass this radio using an external module. The radio uses the VSS for the navigation and also shares that signal for safety mechanisms like the video override. Unless you have a friend that is higher level than I am that is willing to give you the factory testing override software, you will not be able to use the DVD function or navigation input functions while in motion.

Why does the e-brake trick work once and then never again? It should either Work or Never Work.

The system is learning! It's the end of humanity.
