Exclamation Gauge Cluster Issue, 04 wrx

So in my install of led's behind the cluster to mainly change color, while having the cluster out, the RPM needle got turned, but not pushed on in any way otherwise.
Reset it back to 0 before plugging it back in but now it is sort-of lazy from 1k-3k rpm and sticks between 4-5k and won't (usually) release or sweep back down or up without tapping the cluster.

Is there a fix for this, because it doesn't support the start-up sweep to recalibrate?? I'm open to a new cluster but have no knowledge of how-to copying the data from old to new to maintain odometer reading. I would prefer the original be repaired because it's not "broken" per-say, just not sweeping smoothly. And yes, it did work perfectly fine before.

Sorry if this is duplicate but I didn't find specifically a similar posting.

Smile *update*

So something I didn't see until disassembly, when I originally thought the 04 cluster was just like previous ones where the coloring was on the plastic diffuser and not the background for the gauges. Coloring is on the background that has the numbers on it, not the plastic diffuser.

My issue was when I pulled up the background to start taking the coloring off (not needed to be done to change gauge colors) I unclipped the dust shield for the needle. (See pics: https://drive.google.com/folderview?...6rB7vyaBSp8hsu)
