Why bother with fancy lingo If there is no power upgrade. Just make it an optional appearance package. Using Spec or R , Spec A with out power increase is fraud.

Agreed. With ugly grills, less power than it's American, German, Korean and Japanese competitors - nothing exciting to see here

Looks like they're finally realizing they needed to fix that grille in a big way, but now they made the Acura badge yuuuuuge...

Sounds like a page from Audi's S-line play-book. They market will bear it.

What is the business argument for keeping Acura afloat? Way too dgaf to Google the sales stats, but they can't be that great, can they? Time to close the casket, Honda.

I can't say I like the implementation of the new grille here ( and the MDX). It's shape and large logo makes me think Superman too much.

Then that would be something, maybe call it optional handling package. But the last paragraph states it's just an appearance upgrade with wheels. That's what I was thinking too, it's like S line package. What sucks is you go to buy an A4 and see the price. Then you see an S line, you realize now the car you wanted looks like a Turd and you want a S line for another ten grand lol.

A-Spec has been a package on Acura cars for ages. It's typically an appearance package but sometimes includes sport springs/pads/wheels/tires depending on the model. There was an A-Spec version of the 04+ TL way back. If you've ever seen an RSX with the wing spoiler, that was part of the A-Spec kit. Goes back at least a decade. It's historically never had a power bump ever afaik.

Do they still use the Type S monicker? Wasn't that the GT sport package with more power, brakes, handling, etc?

Type S was the nomenclature for a sportier trim with an actual power bump. It may be defunct now; the TL with the 3.7L engine had opted for the SH-AWD moniker for the higher trim in its last generation rather than the Type S. The current SH-AWD version of the TLX uses the same V6 as the FWD version. The ILX and TSX also most recently did not use the Type S badge for their higher engine options. Dunno if it's gone forever, but they haven't used it lately.
