So it doesn't seem a OnePlus specific problem and definitely not a general Android problem. Unfortunately the issue may be specific to whatever is going on in that particular phone. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Pandora? Last edited by edkwon; 12-15-2018 at 07:02 PM. |

Did you make sure battery optimization is turned off?
Edit: Didn't see that mentioned. |

Turning off doze doesn't seem to fix the issue. It doesn't effect Google play music or iHeart radio. |

my nexus 6p does something like that. i'll have it screen off listening to a podcast. push the power button, drag down the thing and hit pause. then power button again. If i come back to it, the paused audio is no longer in the drop down...so then i have to unlock it and go back to the page/app.

Why the hell is there no backup capability for the pixel launcher/home screens? This is ridiculous. Apparantly it can be restored from a device backup but can't be backed up on its own to restore from after a factory reset.

I used to use Nova because the google now launcher was pretty basic. The Pixel launcher is much better and the loss of gesture navigation and live/active recent apps is a deal breaker for going back to Nova for now.
Obviously the ability to backup the launcher/home screens is there it's just not separated from doing a full phone restore. |

Nova Prime has gestures still? I use Regular Nova and can see that you can upgrade to them. ***129335;***127995;****9794;***65039;
Really digging the tablet though and the battery is a beast. I ordered a small Bluetooth mouse that I can use while in DEX mode |

I've been on Nova Prime for years so I didn't realize the free version didn't have gestures |

Gave my aunt a Pixel 3 as an early x-mas gift. I used SMS Backup & Restore to transfer her messages (only 4GB worth!) from her S8. I backed up to thumb drive with an OTG cable. Oddly, when I plugged the cable into the Pixel it wanted to format it first? Didn't make any sense to me so transferred the file to a PC and copied it onto the Pixel manually.
I'm kinda baffled as to why that happened? |

Not sure wtf you were doing Seriously, I thought it was going to take a full evening of tinkering to get it all transferred, the whole process was like a half hour. |

I've never had texts transfer between phones when using the native apps, even from Samsung to Samsung.
Brother in law does it much often than I does. He commented pixel2 to pixel3 was painless. Otherwise, he needs to use a 3rd party app. |

On the past two devices I've had, 6p and s6 I had to select call history, SMS in the backup settings as they were default off IIRC. Since the 6p, my settings have carried over to the next device along with my backed up data.

It's worth noting that RCS messages won't move with SMS Backup and Restore. I didn't realize how many of my messages were actually RCS.

The Nova backup helped, when I restored it onto my s4 tablet. It didn't put back 100% of the stuff, but it was enough that I didn't want to rip my hair out.
Got a USB-C wireless mouse, and it ****ing rocks in DEX mode. I'm definitely happy with this over an iPad. Right now I'm using the dock while typing this message. Last edited by Salvation27; 12-18-2018 at 04:43 PM. |

I can't compare to Surface, as I've never used them. Markman may be correct with what he said, so I can just tell you my experience.
Battery- it's a beast. 7300mah. Fully Charges in about 2.5-3 hours. Haven't had any problems with worrying or rushing for a charger. I've used it quite a bit, as you would with any new toy (i.e. screen on full brightness, lots of apps running.) Screen- it's gorgeous, yet I feel it could be better. Samsung's presets vary how the screen looks. I usually have "Blue Filter" enabled. I also wish there was more control over "Screen Mode." It's very responsive with handwriting/ drawing/ coloring and most apps have great palm rejection. I did add a glass screen protector as well, and it still makes me want to better my penmanship since it isn't as smooth as a pen/ pencil. Speakers/ music sound great. Even though they're labeled as AKG Tuned, they sound similar to any other tablet speakers, but marginally better. Honestly speaking, I haven't been big on Android recently, but this tablet does exceed my expectations. It's real snappy, and haven't had one hiccup or app failure. It is buttery smooth, oddly enough. Just getting started with DEX Mode, but did enjoy the note taking aspect. Example: Was in a meeting and could take notes, add pictures to notes, and even mock up PDFs, etc. The build quality is great. As stated before, the mouse I got works pretty damn good, but it's something extra I have to take with me now. I have 2 cases- One regular one that keeps tablet/ pen handy. Second- is the DEX Case, with pen holder/ keyboard so I'll have to remember to change cases depending upon the day/ usage. DEX Mode is useful with the mouse, but apps would probably fall short in comparison to a newer Pixelbook, or Surface. I do have a new respect for the Google Integration and how there are workarounds to be useful for work. The expanded storage is nice and I have 128GB on top of the 64GB. I have the WIFI only model as I can use my phone for hot spot. The keyboard is big enough for a fat fingered guy, but I am fairly decent at typing (not a hunt and pecker. ) Using other launchers, and a few visual add-ons to change Samsung's look- I'm highly pleased so far. Full disclosure- I'm even more happy that I got the deal for $350 off CL. I intend on using it for work/ leisure purposes, and the girlfriend loves it for coloring before bed. I was able to even get the new Google Camera on and a few other side loaded apps. Night Shot works decently but it obviously isn't as clear as it would be on a Pixel. Ohhh, and it's been way easier to stream things/ just mirror to our TVs using the tablet, than fiddling with our phones or remotes. Being able to watch football games that are out of area, or her to stream her favorite shows easily has been quite convenient. For those aspects, it was a better purchase than that of an iPad pro. The only downside I would say is that Android browsers disappoint me slightly. They seem real slow even with Blokada and other ad blocking. Maybe I'm doing something wrong though, as I haven't Android in that long. Last edited by Salvation27; 12-18-2018 at 07:09 PM. |

So with my "new" battery on the way out (getting ~2hrs SOT and charging 2x a day), I'm going to have to pick something up in a month when I'm in the US for 10 days. Based on my size criteria, I'm basically limited to the Pixel 3 and S9. Used Pixel 3s are in the low $600s on Swappa. If they dip below $600 I'd strongly consider it. Otherwise it will be a new S9 for low $500s.
The camera is super important to my wife so if I got a Pixel 3, I'd consider giving it to her and I'll take her S9 because I value customization whereas she doesn't know 1/100th of the settings or features of the S9 whereas since the Pixel is more inflexible, it is what it is and she doesn't know or care. She just uses Whatsapp, Instagram and is a picture fiend. That way she gets her great cameras and I can tweak away to my heart's content. Funny aside; I went to the equivalent to a Target the other day and happened to glance at the phones as we walked by them and saw my Mi5 still for sale two years later! Still over $300, about what I paid for it 2 years ago. |

thoughts on getting a refurbed pixel 2 xl? would swappa be better? Sort of considering getting something to replace my n6p (still working pretty good actually). Doesn't seem like a huge upgrage really, but newer, etc... Mostly i don't want to fork over $ for the current flagships
