Hi yall. Long time lurker. I am hoping someone can help me out. I am in Metairie and I am looking for a good Subaru mechanic that yall trust. Here’s my deal.

I have 2016 WRX with Cobb Big Air Box, Cobb J-pipe, and ProTune from Corr. For the last few weeks, more times than not, I get a very rough idle upon starting up, it jumps around like riding a horse in closed loop, and I occasionally get P0172 Fuel Too Rich. More recently, I have a new siren sound (like a police car) when accelerating and decelerating between 2k and 4k, which could be an exhasut leak?

The AF Learning 1 is also always between around -25% and -45% right from start up. DAM stays at 1. I had Corr Performance look at and they said they thought it is an electrical problem and that the voltage fluctuates which in turn is affecting fuel trim as a result. My voltage readings are generally in line, but sometimes see ranges of 10.8V to 15.2V. He suggested I take back to Subaru and have them check power components, but I do not have the greatest confidence in our Subaru techs and they already gave me crap about tuning when I had them replace the throw out bearing, as if they are somehow related.

Anyways, I guess I don’t know what to do at this point. Is it a voltage related problem or if I have some exhaust leak (perhaps where J-pipe mates with stock exhaust) this could be root of the issue. I wouldn’t mind having a fresh set of eyes on it all if I could get it fixed. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again yall.

Default closest reliable subaru mechanic

honestly, subaru mechanics are sparse enough around here, your closest bet is awdtuning in houston or Dirty Racing products south of Jacksonville FL, and you might want to consider trailering it if other values are crazy. ron watson on FB might know if its safe to drive, or one of the shops i mentioned above.

i plan on going back there to DRP ,where I put down on a 2011 STI, for a tune next year. also selling a 2016 wrx with 35k, and down for meetups if anyone interested in either. im in midcity, new orleans, and I go to lafayette through Baton rouge alot, sometimes hwy 90 if i have a reason to (besides that badass boudin stop)

looks fairly dead here. I'm Subaru-curious and looking for a "local" group to glean knowledge from. Guess I'll have to try elsewhere.
