Positive Battery terminal

So the positive battery terminal is worn out and although the nut is all the way tight its still loose on the post. SO much so that sometimes my car wont start and it has even killed the car mid drive. My question is can i replace with just any generic terminal kit from my local auto store or do i need a specific subaru one. car is a 2015 wrx base for what its worth.

Bro i got a piece of lead from advanced oreileys zone.

Theyre called terminal adapters or caps whatever.

If it doesnt fit or is too big or what ever just crush it on there with pliers. Cost like 3 bucks.

No worries man, i was in exact boat your in, my replacment battery terminal was a liiitle smaller than stock terminal, so would periodically short out, I got lucky and just found those lead caps.

Stay away from copper or other metals than lead due to potential galvanic corrosion issues.

81608YC000 Subaru factory terminal. About $12-$13. Takes a 12 mm socket/wrench, clean the post and you're done. No cutting the battery cable or rigging the cable end under the wire clamp bolt on a generic lead replacement.

BTW: if you bolt the cable on the wire clamp bolt on a generic lead replacement and the terminal doesn't use a steel nut on the underside (most don't) then the lead WILL strip and the cable will eventually loosen. That's why I suggest spending a few dollars more and use OEM.

^^^ interesting point, yeah makes sense. Probably cheaper in the long run, unless your stranded, which happened to me, so nice "to get you home" repair.

In my case my lead in my bearings let go well before the 3 dollar cap.
