I think it's going to cost considerably less to buy today, than the 22B did back then. Not even comparable.

The new hybrid drivetrains could legit make excellent performance vehicles. The Corolla could be 340hp with the 1.6T and the new 5th gen hybrid. If they had the right tuning on the torque split device, it could instantly have the engine at max power basically all the time. The only downside is that the 5th gen hybrid still only has a 40hp motor in the back so you would be giving up the RWD characteristics that the fully mechanical GR4 Yaris has.

Perhaps they could install the Hybrid motor like the new Tundra. Between the engine and Transmission.

I do enjoy the noise though...

I'm sure there will be a youtube video about the whole thing.

that bottom left valve looks very out of place. since the DI injection port is on the intake valve side, that has to be an exhaust valve, so maybe it was a missed shift that resulted in the exhaust valve having a violent meeting with the piston that ultimately caused the failure.

although, the valve bending could have happened as a result of part of the piston hitting it after it failed.

I'll watch for the youtube video, but it may never be known.

it seems that the GR Yaris has a temperature problem; if you are doing track days etc you are working the engine, the gearbox and the differential at their thermal limits; each one of it needs a separate oil cooler to prevent damage.
