An impressive package for sure. Shocked to see no Forced Induction aka Super Charger. Ecstatic to see a high rpm NA engine, that also from a US manufacturer.

The Z06’s niche is typically the NA high performance version of the corvette. They’ve deviated from that, but it leads to on track reliability issues. The ZR1 will almost definitely be forced induction though.

It's still ugly like the base model, but the proportions don't look off so it has my attention - visually. The engine seems like a clear winner. Will be a great driver car in poverty spec - will be at your local golf course with all the carbon trimmings.

It's a corvette. price = cheap & built without limitation.

This engine is the only thing giving me hope that the LS7 wasn't the last 'cool' engine GM made.

That flat-plane V8 sounds very, very good. Give that thing a Viper ACR-like aero package for even more becauseracecarforthestreet.

Hell yes. This engine is awesome.

I was kind of meh on the base C8, but the Z06 is a game changer IMO. When everything is going turbo, hybrid, or EV, I love that GM decided to make a high revving N/A V8.

I'd zip up my pants for a while however. Ford did a flat plane crank 8k rpm, etc, and due to the inherent engine design it would be prudent to see how this plays out, first model year etc. Engine problems, oil burning, etc. I'm not dropping 100k on any car but those who wanna, would be best served by waiting a little bit and let others be guinea pigs. This is GM's first foray into this type of engine in a production vehicle. While I have more faith in GM than Ford, in getting this right, I can only think of all the issues with the Voodoo. That alone would put me in wait and see turf.

Yeah I agree. GM doesn’t have the best record with the LS7 or cooling on the LT4 for the last two gens of Z06.

No way I would want to get a first year and I’d be very leery of some random GM dealer techs trying to work on this engine.

It’s really cool GM did this but I’d wait and see.

Not to defend them too much, but almost all the issues were on track with high g-loads and consecutive hotlaps. Hardly anyone experienced issues in daily driving. So if you aren't taking it a road course, you would probably be just fine right now

otherwise, yeah let others beta test that

Opposite here. Get it asap. Drive as long-far-much as I want and then sell for a profit.
In the event there's an issue, the car comes with a warranty.

Damn.. the hour-long Geese video is amazing. We were all hoping Chevy would fix the C8 with the Z06.. and they did. Remember when the C5 Z06 blew everyone's mind? This is that moment all over again.

I just wish it was as affordable as the C5.. but I totally get why it isn't.

Hour long means it goes into the watch later list and never gets watched.

Hey, maybe they'll give it active aero ala Zenvo ST at some point. That spoiler lives up to its name - it spoils the looks.

Man I still don't want a C8 corvette, but that engine sounds amazing; here's to hoping its available as a crate engine, and that it doesn't have the oil consumption issues that the Voodoo had/has. I expect oil consumption, especially when winding it out, but the Voodoo drank too much, that or it got too much negative press so that I & others think it drank to much oil; I'd still have a GT350 if I could get my hands on one though, just keep oil in the trunk, like I did with my $500 beaters

Nothing against the C8 Z06, it looks like a potent performance "bargain" (speaking in relative terms here), and a proper successor to the C6 Z06 (C7 Z06 went a different direction); I'm just not in a place where I'll drop 100k+ on a toy/track car, Z07 package CF rims on the streets of CT is a no-no as well.

I know at least one person that probably has a deposit down on a Z06 with Z07 package though, he has been tracking a C6 Z06 since ~2006 when he bought his first one new (R.I.P) his second one is a barely street legal track car, and his son has one as well, again, track car; gotta give them a call.

GM has the ability to do great things; it's evident in the performance & handling of their vehicles; Camaro, Corvette, the Cadillac Blackwing cars, they just need to continue to sell enough trucks & SUVs to bankroll those endeavors until ultimately, they are gone/illegal.

Saw it on track at Laguna Seca and it sounded very nice going by on the straight between Turn 11 & Turn 1. There were a few to look at - parked - and the widebody is what the C8 needed to offset its odd proportions, plus the side duct size is on par with the Aventador. Looks like a game changer last seen by Corvette with the C6Z06 debut.

Now, if they could figure out that whole production thing.
