Here's my Impreza as it sits currently. I got some Hella Sharptones I need to install. The Grimmspeed Bro-tie Bracket doesn't work with the new Impreza, but I think I found a way to utilize it regardless.

I love the JDM Limited headlights.

I dig it!! Looks like u sticking with NA's huh??

Thanks bro. I wish you did things to your STI. I don't like them stock, but with the STI lip kit, new taillights, JDM bumper LED strip, coilovers, etc etc, the STI can look downright mean!

Appreciate it!

I'll be honest, after all of my observations and experiences concerning Subaru and turbo engines, I just don't really think they're that reliable. They're fun, sure, but outside of stock they're just ticking time bombs. And we all know that the factory tunes suck. Cobb even has a tune for the Ascent and that's a brand new engine. I don't know why Subaru sucks so much at tuning their cars. I was willing to give them slack on the EJ tunes because of CARB and CAFE restrictions, but the FA engines are supposed to address that and they still have to be tuned.

That being said, my STI was a lot of fun and I was totally fine with the stock power and everything. So my current desire is to see whether or not Subaru makes another STI 5-door. Then at the mid-cycle refresh I'd probably get one since by then they should have bugs worked out and I can decide between which models I prefer. If they don't have a 5-door then I'll just keep modifying the Impreza. I enjoy how it drives currently, so anything I do to it will just be for sound and aesthetics.

If something happens to the Impreza and there's no performance 5-door then I'd probably get an Ascent. I had a loaner and it's a BLAST to drive. The turbo kicks you back in the seat and it doesn't really drive like an SUV. Then again, Mazda has the Mazda 3 2.5 Turbo hatchback now, and Toyota is bringing a Corolla hatch with AWD, a turbo, and manual supposedly, plus the Bronco is back, so who knows what could happen in the future. Strange times we're in!

I agree usdm ej25 are trash no amount of "Hella Dope" comments will change my mind haha unless built.. i do like the reliability of usdm ej20's tho makes more sense to run those and stage 2 it or protune and calling it good. Nice to see some members still posting i do what I can myself to keep AKIC alive. You have a good idea on just rolling with NA for now you still have the AWD feature without the worry of "oh no RINGLAND" haha

I guess the new worry with the FB/FA engines is highly abnormal oil consumption. I didn't have a problem with my BRZ, my Impreza, or my Crosstrek that's still up in Alaska. But I've read a lot of horror stories. I miss the early days of the EJ, before CAFE/CARB suffocated errythang.

The scene has changed a lot as far as AKIC is concerned. I'm still on the Facebook groups for Alaska Tuner Catalog, FT86 Enthusiasts and 2017+ Impreza owners. Also one for Mass Subaru owners here in New England.

My son Luke, who was still in his mom when I bought my bugeye, has been driving the car to school for the last year or so. It was in detuned mode. He recently had a power steering leak/failure. I took a good long look at the car and came to the realization that the car is in need of some TLC of late. Valve cover gaskets have slight leaks on both sides. We are going to pull the engine, put in a new clutch while we are in there, and also add ARP head studs. Been running 27 PSI for about 7 years now since leaving AK. Car is very close to 200,000 miles. Going to update some of the things under the hood too, oil catch can, etc. Planning to get the methanol injection off as there is no need for it here in Florida with pump 93 and E 85. I will check the 1.5 xtr twin scroll turbo for shaft play, do a compression and leak down. New plugs. My shop guy is trying to talk me into going flex fuel, but that will mean moving from 1000cc ID injectors to at least 1300cc, then a new tune. This should take about a month or so.

Should be a nice update on my classic. Another evolution of my bugeye as it approaches antique tag status here in Florida (which is 25 years).
