Default Project DD and Grocery Getter- 99 Legacy Wagon

Shortly after I bought this car, the headgaskets blew. I thought about doing a lot of work while I had the engine out (cams, valves, valve springs, head pnp, etc), but for a fraction of the cost I picked up an AE86. My intentions with this car are to have a nice reliable DD, while I have my AE86 to work on as an actual project. I bought the Legacy with quite a few good parts on it, and have added a few since I've had it.

Here's a total list of everything installed:
EJ251 out of 00-01 2.5RS
Whiteline Roll Center Kit
Cusco Vacanza Rear Sway Bar
Cusco Rear Stabilizer Bar
Kartboy Solid Rear Endlinks
06 WRX struts with 02-07 WRX Tanabe GF210 Springs
Whiteline Steering Rack Bushings
STI Group N Pitch Stopper
08 STI Front Brembos
Stainless brake lines (front)
08 WRX Wheels with 25mm spacers
04 STI BBS (on loan from a friend... lol)
JDM Grill
JDM Fogs
Chargespeed Front Bumper
LGT Hood
LGT 2 piece headlights (soon to be replaced by JDM HID headlights)

To fit the Cusco rear stabilizer bar, I ended up cutting out a part of the spare tire well, and boxing it in. I think I made enough room for future sway bar upgrades as well

It's been stitch welded, seam sealed, and covered in por15 already. I just haven't taken any recent pictures of it.

I have a few more things in the works, but pretty much this car is done. I just want a set of wheels that clear the brembos without having to use spacers, and Cusco coilovers.

Very nice! The second generation wagon is such a classic Subaru in my opinion.

Love that bumper too.

So this was a 2.2 model, and the SOHC 2.5 was swapped in using the existing intake manifold? Thats my dream set up! I have a 98 GT wagon.. I swapped in the EJ205 but if I could do it again I would've picked up a clean L and done the EJ251 swap with some go-fast stuff.

Yup. The previous owner bought the car with rod knock on the 2.2 (dunno how that happened... it's bulletproof!). He bought the EJ251 from a friend, and dropped it right in. The engine had right around 100k on it when the headgaskets decided to go on me. The car has just over 210k on it now.

Love that front bumper! Are they still available for sale? I checked the Chargespeed site and didn't see them. :-(

Love the way this car looks. Bravo!

Where can I find one of those front bumpers?

That Bumper is actually an ultra rare RFRB Type 1 front bumper... nearly impossible to find! I have one on my legacy and I only know of one other person who has one stateside.

What's going on Momosaurus,

I've just finished this same project, I've got 1 final issue I'm having a hard time getting an answer to, so I'm thankful of finding this thread. So thanks.

What drive shaft did you use for this swap? I'm having an angle issue from the legacy driveshaft that I originally had used, the bracket that holds the current bearing on the driveshaft sits to low. If you had a part# or what model the driveshaft came off of, you'd help me with the final piece to my puzzle 🙏
I appreciate the help in advance

I'm Ryan by the way✌️
