That is an amazing restoration on this car. And yes, no carbon fiber at all. I loved the added detail with the white paint on the letters.

Tomorrow I'll start cleaning out the interior and maybe give it a bath, it definitely needs some simple cleaning right now to see what kind of work it needs.

Eventually, the goal is to get it to look somewhat like this:

just woke her up after a winters nap!!

few things planned for this summer

1 - transmission work
Reverse is not working and I'm not sure why - we have to remove/drop the transmission and crack her open

2 - carpet and center console install
After the transmission is sorted, time to finish the interior.
Bought the center console out of an FF Sport, imported it from Japan (photos soon!) - that means I can finally sort the carpet for her and get the interior back to beautiful

3 - Have JDM fender mounted mirrors.
Not sure I will install them but I HAVE THEM (again photos soon!)

Thanks for following along and being a part of her epic journey

JDM fender mounted mirrors? Yes please.

Reverse may be as simple as a shifter not getting enough leverage or wrong angle.

I'd check the linkage before you go opening up the tranny. My 4 speed had reverse troubles because of play/wear in the linkage. Pivots and such.

I hope my Subaru driveway is as epic as yours someday...

I am always so nervous that I cannot relax and enjoy it.

the exhaust bangs into the under body sometimes, need to address that, ran it in the OE style/format - must have missed a spacer or stabilizer or something...

the brakes always scare me. they work, but i don't have confidence in them.

gears pull hard, car wants to go and it sounds awesome.

it's just love..... a little rough on the edges but still love

come visit. you need to drive her

I found this thread a few days ago and just got all caught up tonight. The transformation that this car has undergone is nothing short of inspiring. To see this battered and neglected little car saved from the crusher and turned into something beautiful... excuse me, my eyes are leaking. Anyway, when Steve posted his intention to sell the car, I nearly screamed "no" at my computer screen. Thank goodness Subie Gal found it before anyone else. What the two of you have done to give this piece of Subaru history a second chance... I simply don't have the words for it. I love old cars; always have, always will. All I can say is thank you both for all of the time, effort, and money that you have put towards this car. If Subaru was smart, they would turn this story into an ad campaign, because there is more love in this little car than any other car in the world.

Sincerely,
John aka LostInPhilly89

P.S. I have always wanted to set a few weeks aside and plan a road trip out to the west coast. If that ever comes to be, you better believe that I'll be stopping by!
