Default Bugeyes Royale Coast to Coast, Top Scoob 021 East (Voting Now Open for Semi Finals!!)

Who has the best Bugeye in North America?

Top Scoob is extremely proud to being you our second double header, 021, Bugeyes Royale, where we intend to answer the question of who has the best Bugeye around.

There are a couple of very important items to point out before we start so please read the following before entering!

021 is split into East versus West with the dividing line being the Mississippi River. Depending on which side of the line you live determines which thread you enter...super easy. You're currently reading the EAST thread fwiw.

We're limiting this round to members from North America only (No Internationals this time) but if you're Military and currently stationed overseas still feel free to enter by using whatever you consider to be your hometown.

Voting will be the usual two round eliminations in each thread followed by one combined East versus West showdown between the top three cars from both. Make sense?

From the title you can already guess that this round is for 2002-03 Imprezas only, sedan and wagons.

Your car must be a Bugeye so an 02-03 with a later model headlight conversion would be excluded.

If by chance you're one of the few individuals who've converted their post 2003 Impreza to a Bugeye then come join the fun. You've earned it!

As always please read the rules before entering and Good Luck to all our Bugeye owners out there.

*click the banners to check out and vote in both threads

Quote:
It’s easy to enter your car, all you need is a Subaru, a camera, a place to host pictures, and the ability to type a coherent sentence or two…

The requirements, as in you MUST HAVE the following to be considered.

  • No more than THREE pictures (that's the forum max) of your car can be posted in your entry thread, whatever you feel best shows off your hard work and imagination. Once the voting begins you are free to add more pictures. Bump away but try to think quality, not quantity.
  • A written description of your ride, the more detailed the better. We’re talking about more than just a mod list, we want you to share the story behind your Scoob. Tell us why and how you bought it, what inspires you to modify it, and what all you’ve done to it and why. Most important is to tell us what you do with your car...race, show, cruise, polish with a diaper, whatever.
Think of it as your own magazine feature, the better you sell your car to the masses the better the chances of your Subaru becoming a Top Scoob.

  • You're more then welcome to start a campaign thread in your Regional Forum however the General, Off Topic, and Gallery forums are off limits to vote generating threads. If you already have a thread about your car in the Gallery feel free to bump away.

  • Trash talking is not welcome in this contest. If you need to tear down another competitor in an effort to build yourself up please do not bother to enter.

How it works
  • This is a contest, open to all Nasioc members that own a Subaru.
  • You must be the current owner of the car, no third party entries allowed.
  • Entries must be submitted to a specified Top Scoob thread stickied at the top of the Member's Gallery. The number of cars allowed is limited to a maximum of 25. Any themes or restrictions on entries will be clearly described before the contest begins. For example: GC Only, or Wagons Only, or 100% Bugeye Free, you'll get the idea.
  • Please only one entry per person.

Voting and Eliminations
  • There are three rounds of voting, Round One = 10 days, Round Two = 8 days, Final Round = 6 days
  • After the First Round the cars placing in the bottom 15 positions will be knocked out.

  • After the Second Round the cars placing in the bottom 7 positions will again be knocked out.

  • The final three cars will go head to head to head in a final poll to select who has the Top Scoob.

  • *based on our maximum entry of 25 cars. Knockout cut offs and the number of first and second round threads will be adjusted at the start of the contest depending on the total number of entries.

  • Votes are automatically reset to zero at the start of each round.

  • In case of a tied vote for the last transfer spot in the first two rounds, the entrants involved will compete in a 24-hour Run Off vote.

If there is a tied vote for first place in the final round, a 72-hour Run Off vote will decide the winner.

My Sonic Yellow Bugeye***8230;***8230;

Purchased back in late of 2005 it was stock for quite sometime. January of 2007 I went on a short 3 month deployment to japan and that's when I started buying parts. I picked up some exterior mods( jdm roof vent, jdm grill and fog covers) and then slowly did some bolt on stuff..just intake..full exhaust Cobb AP v1.

My car started getting most of its parts that you see today until I left for Iraq from January 2008 till August 2008. and ever since then, I have slowly added more and more and more to it***8230;

Up until recently the car was running great and then about 3 months ago I spun a rod bearing and out came the motor and transmission. The car currently it sitting at a friends shop awaiting its turn to get a full build with all the goodies***8230;

The reason i bought this car was because of potential. Plus having a rare color helped me decide on my bugeye. I wanted something that stuck out and from the moment i bought it, i knew i wanted to make it into a show and go car. i didnt know much about auto-x or road racing when i bought it..i currently do none of that..i enjoy a nice street car to get me around town and also turn heads.

Ok. I'm not a show guy at all. Never been into it. Just a go guy. Bought this car in SoCal San Daygo on release day!!!!!!! Daily drove it from Cali to where i live now in NY. I decided to build a 100% USDM 2.0...I allready did the hybrid. That motor wasnt built right, so i went back to 2.0. It is all USDM.

Here we go...

I am the original owner of the car and have had it since January 2002. When I initially got it I built the car around auto-x so I first concentrated on suspension mods. The car eventually unfolded into what you see today. It has taken me on trips all over the east coast from Buffalo to Tennesee. I think I've built a fun all around car and I'm still very happy with the way the car feels in every aspect after 8 years. Even with all the changes the car has been through I still continue to daily drive the car in all weather conditions.

Ok i'll give it shot, but if D enters, just delete my post please.

This is my 03 bought in nov 2002. I originally bought this as a dd then the modding started soon after and was hooked. I bought a beater so i could really start to mod and use the bug as a weekend/showcar. The car had a total of three different looks and eight sets of wheels. This is how the car sits currently and my favorite so far.

Here is my 2002 WRX. I bought it back in 2005. The car was in very poor condition when bought. It didn't run properly, suspension was very beaten and the body was in rough condition. With much love and determination with the car, I built it to what it is today. My most expensive parts on the car is my custom built transmission built by Andrewtech Automotive and the body molding of the lip kit and side skirts. I have alot of time, money and pride in my car and love to take it to shows and NASIOC events/meets. Alot of you know me on here from the MAIC area so here is my 2002 Subaru WRX.

I have LOTS more pics that are separate photo-shoots of the car. So vote for me to see a bunch more pictures and information of my car! LOL

Here is my entry post.

Originally a 2002 usdm WRX, it was brought to Canada in 2004 and was right away swapped with a complete V7 STI drivetrain/powertrain, interior, suspension, etc. It was my daily driver until 2008 when I decided to make it a dedicated weekend warrior. I used to track it before that too but was still running it during winter time which I don't do anymore. I won couple of Time Attack championships in my class up here in Eastern Canada in the last years along with some AutoX championships. And by the way, my current daily driver is also a bugeye, but wagon.

I am not going to list all upgraded parts but it is basically a track modified V7 STI with the steering wheel being on the left side.
It now has OMP race seats, Sparco steering wheel and is about 200lbs lighter than a street STI.

On to the pics now!

This picture is from last year when I got 3rd place in the Rota wheels 2009 contest:

This one is from one of this year Time Attack wearing the practice runs wheels and tires:

And the last one is from a local AutoX wearing the race wheels and Hoosier tires:

And some more:

Here is a link to a video of another local AutoX event:

Ferg, let me know if it is ok for the video, if not I will edit my post, no problem!

And good luck to everyone, there are sweet bugs in here!

Hey guys, I'm Vlad and I drive a carbon bronze pearl 03 wrx.. daily driven on the sh!$tty roads of CT. I bought this car from Kevin in May '10, became good friends now even though he lives like 1500 miles away lol. I was thrilled to purchase his car and had to sell my '99 swapped GC that was also my pride and joy. But I wanted something newer and to spend my money on something different. Since I've gotten it I haven't been able to do a lot to the car since I was unemployed for half the summer and now I'm a full time student at UConn so all my money that I get now goes towards gas and what not. Anyways, there were a few things that I had to replace for the car.. my radiator decided to go on the way to WBM so I bought myself a Mishimoto radiator as soon as I got home, all four coilovers blew lol so I bought brand new BC BR's coilovers and just recently got them on finally. I also got some extra goodies such as JDM rainguards, Ureshi window spoiler, STi V2 lip so I could go lower, and other little things. I was planning on upgrading the performance, but I really don't know anymore at this point, just want to keep it clean and simple. I do have a lot more planned for the car in the future however!

Here is the current mod list:

Exterior:
- Custom carbon bronze pearl paint (acura TL-S special edition color)
- antenna shaved, entire rear trunk shaved (wing & key holes)
- front fenders rolled and rear fenders rolled and slightly pulled then professionally reshaped
- EDM STi projector headlights w/kaixen 6000k HIDs
- JDM sti grille with pillar deleted
- JDM 02/03 STi hoodscoop
- Chargespeed CF brake ducts
- Greddy front lip
- STi v2 lip (about to replace the Greddy lip)
- Chargespeed v2 sides
- OEM rear 3pc diffuser
- 32% carbon ceramic tint
- JDM rainguards
- Ureshi window spoiler

Interior:
- Alpine IVA w203 double din dvd player
- jdm s202 hazard button
- STi short throw
- Momo shift knob
- Omoni boost gauge

Suspension/Wheels:
- BC BR coilovers with front/rear camber plates + rear extenders
- Whiteline 24-26mm adj front sway
- 18 x 9" +35 Rota G-force
- purple deevo racing lugs
- 245/35 bridgestone potenza re760s

Brakes:
- DBA 4000 series slotted rotors
- Hawk HPS pads

Engine:
- Prodrive PPP3/ecutek engine management
- Prodrive turbo inlet
- Prodrive divorced wastegate DP (w/hi-flow cat)
- Prodrive catless flex uppipe
- Invidia n1 catback (straight-piped)
- Mishimoto Aluminum radiator

First pic is the most recent with a lower drop than the others:

I was not sure if I wanted to enter at first but who cares, I am proud of my car! I know there are a lot of cars that have been entered/ will be entered in this Top Scoob that have a lot more done to them but hey, I love this car and wanted to put it in here anyway

I have had my 2002 WRX since FEB of 2005 and am the 2nd owner. I have always loved the Subaru WRX since I first learned about them. I was fascinated by the uncanny looks, and the turbo/awd platform. When I got the car I was young, and pretty stupid. I took good care except for basically bolting on cheap parts at it because I thought modding was cool... Back then I wanted to be slammed, and if that meant getting 200$ coil sleeves for my stock shocks that was fine with me

Then thankfully some things changed.

During college my lurking here on the forum became more of an educational experience and I began to think about where I wanted my car to go. I would spend hours reading tech forums and looking for answers to my questions. This meant for me ditching the cheap suspension I was on, the cheap wheels, etc etc.... After graduating college I was able to get off on the right track with my car thanks to a good full time job. My goal was to build it up well without spending an extreme amount of money...

As the car sits now it is in my opinion a great example of what a simple, clean WRX should be. As the 02-03 WRX has become less and less expensive because of its older age the sight of a riced out or poorly maintained/modified WRX is unfourtanetly becoming more and more frequent.

I hate this fact and made it my goal to try and stay on the other side of the spectrum with my car. I want it to always have a clean look with some parts that allow for a head turn or two as I drive down the road.

This car is not anywhere close to the most expensive build out there and never will be, but for me its just a GREAT street machine. My goals were to improve the cosmetics, handling, braking, and power on subtle to moderate levels. I wanted to modify it just enough to let you know that the car is far from stock but not so much that it cuts down on reliability, comfort, etc.

I have many more plans for it but here is how it stands now. I hope you like it and vote for me

I hope I'm not too late for the party? Time to step up and represent the wagons. I hope I can hang with this crowd.

2003 Sonic Yellow WRX/STI Wagon

The History

I've been working on this car for a very long time, modded stuff, changed direction and remodded, and learned a lot. I had entered this car in the original battle of the wagonistas almost two years ago where I was rated 3rd overall. Here is a link to the original writeup if you want to read about the cars history and where it was in it's life-cycle back then:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...8&postcount=10

The Latest

After losing 2 motors and a few different turbo setups I decided no more messing around... time to start fresh and do it right. I threw in a new RAW Performance track series motor, had them do some custom head work including cams and upgraded valvetrain, and upgraded/modded the oil pump and pickup. I also went with a full custom and built oil cooling system that would withstand desert racing temps. Then last minute I chose to do a full JDM 6-speed swap. To round it all out I chose an ATP Garrett GT3076 turbo. After the breaking and tune it put down 392whp / 400wtq. This thing rips.

What's Left?

At this point, nothing. I have to say it has been extremely stressful getting it to where it is today but I smile ever day I walk out to my car and see it still there. I have never owned a car that brought me this much joy.

Special Thanks

Dave & Gerry @ MSPT for all of the hard work and patience, Ron at RAW Performance for the custom motor and head work, all of my buddies who have helped and supported me over the years from NASIOC, the Long Island Subaru Club (LISC) , and Subaru Queens Crew (SQC), Rick @ RavSpec, Clark Turner for killing my ej205 on the dyno( ...I'm glad it happened, the car is in a better place because of it), Caesar & Cory at LightWerkz for the headlights, blue STI cluster and stereo mods, Ken @ KNS Brakes, Bryan @ JNJ Associates, David Kearney @ OAKOS Automotive, my father-in-law Tony for the hours in the driveway working on my car, and everyone at Ultimate Collision for the body work.

Most importantly I want to thank my wife for her patience and understanding over the years. I know you wish I didn't spend so much time and money on it and more on you. I appreciate you not giving more **** for it.

hey sorry for the delay here guys...bad combination of Holiday weekend and the release of GT5 has kept me thoroughly distracted

We're more or less ready to go...but I need Chilson0602 to pick one of his two Bugeyes to enter. If he doesn't by days end I'll pick one for him...wagon simply because those gold five spokes are beyond sexy on a white wagon.

So thanks for being super patient, thanks for all the awesome entries, and hang tight a few more hours and we'll get the first round going!
