Default Gimmick Motorsports

Hey guys, This is just a little heads-up about my experience with "Gimmick Motorsport".

Back in September the 21st, (Nearly 3 months ago) I placed an order for some hood struts, a T-shirt and some gaskets. The order of $176.89 was processed by "Google Checkout". A guy named "Nino" replied asking for an additional $25 to cover international postage be paid. I said ok, and he sent a second invoice, I sent Gimmick Motorsport the extra via Google checkout. I then waited for my package.

On November 5th, I still had not recieved my order, so I asked Gimmick about it :
"Hello, On September 21 I placed an order ( # 917802867491433 ) for some hood struts, gaskets and a T-shirt. The order was paid via Google checkout, and I also paid an additional amount to cover international postage. The order was supposed to have been posted on September 26. It is now November and I still have not recieved the order. Can you please investigate? Is there a tracking number to look up? Which courier / postal service did you use?
Thankyou"

The reply same day :
"I will check into it and see what is going on, The items were not all sent from the same location, but you should have received at least part of it by now. I will let you know."

I did not hear back from Gimmick, so I sent another email which went unanswered on November 11 :
"Hello. Any more info on the state of my order? I still haven't received anything. Please keep me informed."

I still did not receive any further info or package, so I sent this email on November 15 to try and get some response. :
"Ok, look Im starting to get worried. I havent got ANY of my order yet. You havent replied to my last mail, and am starting to think I have been scammed. If my order was sent, then it should have deffinately been here. You say you sent multiple packages, and I havent seen one. I know sometimes packages go missing in the post, but not 2 or more from the same person to another person.
I dont want to have to do this, but if you cant get it to me soon, or at least give a decent reason as to whats going on, I am going to bad mouth you on the net on every car forum I can think of."

I didnt really want to do it, but I said that to try and bluff them into actually doing something about my missing parcel.

This was the reply same day :
"We are a 6 year old company that sells over a half million dollars a year in parts, I have no reason to “scam”: anyone for a measly 179 dollars. You are in Australia and as such with usps it is very difficult to verify when exactly the parts are supposed to arrive unless you pay the ridiculous prices for next day air. I promise you the parts were sent and I have the post office doing a trace on the packages but have yet to hear anything back. Once I do you will be the first to know."

That was the last I heard from them. I didnt actually post anything about them online, as wanted them to have a chance to sort the issue out. I know how damaging that sort of stuff can be to business. (That was until today.)

On November 23rd, I filed a complaint with Google about Gimmick. Google supposedly gets in touch with and trys to mediate. There was no reply from Gimmick and still isnt to this day.

I am currently seeking a refund from Google. In the mean time I thought Id warn you all about this dodgy company. I understand that stuff-ups happen, and I have been responsible for a good few in my time too. Thats not the point, its how you handle that stuff-up that is important. And clearly Gimmick Motorsport is not very good at handling their stuff-ups. I have given them every opportunity to sort it out, but have been left in the dark and out of pocket. So I urge you not to support a business that clearly doesn't support its customers.

It's true, if you use the lowest-cost Int'l shipping it is very difficult to gauge and track. The box may be sitting in your country's import office with nobody looking at it. It's just the way it works. I worked for a manufacturer and we dealt with this all the time when sending international shipments. The only way to guarantee tracking and reasonable timeframes is doing the "Priority" or "Next Day" service. The freight alone would have cost $100+ for your shipment. Either pay for expedited shipping, or sit and wait.

Also, you may have to pay import duty taxes on your shipment in your country...if you have not paid, then you won't get your package. Australia, Germany, and Italy are expensive for this in my experience. We used to send everything as a "gift" to avoid it hahaha

I see this as an issue with the parcel carrier and less with Gimmick, IMO.

Good luck!

Wrong forum first of all, and why are you blaming a company for an issue that appears to be a shipping carrier issue? This is a complete waste of a thread and useless bashing of a company. IBTL!

Bram, I am sorry you still have not received the parts and I am also sorry that I am unable to find out where they are and when they would be there.

It is ridiculous for it to take this long, but unfortunately with international shipping it can happen. I have an extra set of gaskets and hood dampers I am more than willing to resend in hopes that they arrive at our expense. I only want to make it right for you but please understand that this is an issue with shipping, not GMS. I will be filing a claim with the shipper on the insurance and report the item as undelivered and resend these items to you asap.
Thank you for the business.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section. I dont frequent here often...

I understand that problems happen with shipping / couriers etc. Thats not my reason for posting, the reason is the way it was handled once brought to the attention of Gimmick. I feel like I have been brushed aside. Its more of a customer service gripe. It really sux that you have to get online and bag a company out to see any progress. I feel that if I didnt do this, nothing would happen.

ASFAIK, in aus you only pay import tax, then regular tax ontop of that if the order exceeds $1000AU. I have bought numerous items from the US, my jap car is full of US bits. I have never had any issue with delivery before.

EXACTLY. I didn't want to do this, but I felt they had just forgotten me (either intentionally, or by mistake). As stated, my last few attempts at contact went unanswered.

I have replied to every contact and replied to Bram prior to even knowing about the post. Regardless the result would have been the same. Thats why we pay for insurance when we ship packages.
