Help: ECU swap
Hi everyone,
In order to pass new CA Smog test(s), I had to buy / install a new ECU at a Subaru dealership. I know… I know… I got ripped, don’t have to tell me twice. This afternoon I tried putting back my original Cobb modified ECU, and now car will not start. I unmarried the Cobb AP before the dealer changed out the ECUs. My car has an immobilizer, (I have the code, given by dealership), but this ECU was originally on my car. Did the dealership maybe remove the immobilizer code from ECU #1, so it cannot be used again? Why doesn’t it work? I figured it would be “plug’n’play”. This is my first ECU swap. If I had bought the ECU from someone else, it would make more sense if it did not work, because of different VIN and so on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Ken

I removed the immo chip, copied it and soldered the copy on the board to get a clone ecu so I had a spare.
