Are they moving on to a new location? Or are they going out of buisness. If they are going out of buisness are there employes willing to stay with the building under new managment. Why is the original owner leaving?

Not that my broke college self could afford it, but I am curious.

Treekilla,
The present owner can't cut the rent he's old beat up and out of touch with the new technology involved with running a shop and auto repair. He'd be happy to share space or work for you but I don't think you'd want him because he's never been a good operator and quite frankly a soso mechanic at best.
The Shop however is in a growing area with newer more expensive homes and he's only servicing the old timers that are moving and dying off. All the succesfull shops I see today are those with a specialty or a niche.
With so many cars under warrantee today you need to know more than how to do brakes and an oil change to stay competitive. I think this is a great place for a tunner shop catering to the growing import performance market where people are willing to drop a few $sheckels to hook there cars up.

I'm a little disapointed in the lack of interest in a chance at the American Dream

Well, i think any investor/creditor/stake owner etc would need more infomation in order to take the offer seriously, ie business plan, market demographics and demand research, cash and operating requirements, # of investors, exit strategy, etc. Plus it help to have cash which i think is the bigger problem than lack of interest...

Cash is the key the market rent is $1750-$2000 for this site. Someone should have a minimum of 6 months rent in reserve + working capital. Also needed business savy and mechanical expertise.

Maybe You can partner up with someone or better yet I could set you up with the current operator as his partner. You help with the rent and he'll teach you how to fix cars.

Paying a piece of the rent would also entitle you to a stake in the business and in the end, a stake of the profit...

No but He's also looking at the posibility of taking in a partner and someone younger. which will inevitably lean towards tunning

I think partnership would cost at least $1000 PER MONTH for rent ofcourse in hopes that you can generate enough business to cover that and more
