Default Ej 257 2.5 Sti

Im trying to find some 'non biased' info on the above stated engine.....i.e. factory mechanicals (forged pistons? rods, crank, injectors, c/r etc etc)

Also what sort of reliable flywheel horsepower is being extracted from this and whats required to do so whilst retaining standard internals (what turbo is being used, injectors, ecu etc)

Reason for so much info is im looking at converting my GC8 wrx and being that the EJ257 is US spec only.....posting here seemed the most logical thing to do.

Any info and links would be most appreciated,

Thank you

Jme

if i'm not mistaken it has a semi-closed engine block, forged crank and rods, and hyper-cast pistons. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

AFAIK you are correct. I figure it's VERY reliable at 300 HP...

It's only been out a few months, no one can even begin to talk about reliability, even at stock levels.

well theres this thread

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=409100

I dont think its bias... If you want more then 400hp then the ej207 or the ej22t with internals would be worth some thought. From what ive heard the ej257 deck is the weekest part.

How much do you want to spend? You could always get a block from one of the tuners... i speed, cobb, or axis.
