Post what are drag races like at Sears Point?

I'm interested in giving drag racing a shot over the summer at Sears Point. What will I need? What are the procedures like? I'm trying to gather as much information as I can so I wouldn't look like an idiot out there on the track

Wednesday night drags happen every wednesday of the season (dont know the season, it starts in march though). gates open at 3pm, eliminations start at 7pm.

So from 3pm-7pm you have time to register with a number and the class your in based on what you think the car can run, get race fuel if you want, then keep running when your class is called, for instancts SPS for sports class cars no faster than 14.0.

13.9 below needs a helmet.

once your class is called you line up in the lanes and start running for times, when 7pm roles around you need to dial in your time and put it on your window. so say you ran 14.9, 14.8, and 14.7 and you think you can do better. so i would dial in 14.55 or something.

once eliminations begin you are held by your time posted on your windshield. The point is to get closest to the time you dialed in without going faster. you keep racing til you are eliminated, and if you survive each round, you can change your time if you feel neccesary.

PS dont burnout with awd.

i usually take of between the 3rd light and the green light (4th?).

you will be in good shape if your reaction times are .500 or lower, and your 60 foots are 2.3 below (depending on the car).

good luck and might see you out there, actually pm me of when you plan to go and i might go out with you.

You can learn a lot by just going out there and watching the waterbox/Tree area.
Everyone has to go the 1st time at some point..

Thumbs up

I'd love to tag along with someone from the I-club to the drag races before taking my car all the way up there. Anyone from San Jose/South Bay area can take me? Please PM me and let me know if you can. THANKS!

and one more thing, watch out for hot hot weater up there! went there once and it was hot! there is no wind there, so watch out for above 100º weather! remember, on hot days, TC have a very big disadvantage!
