Is the rattle from the transponder? Or the blade? Or what?

It seems as if the rattle is coming from the mechanism that holds the key. The chrome piece that holds the button.

Are you using the blade it came with, or did you modify one?

I used the blank that the fob came with. The key fits snug into the mechanism. But the mechanism wiggles around in the case.

How much wiggle? They do have some, but it's never been something I've noticed when using the key.

The rattle in the same location. The flip chrome piece attaching the key to the housing. There's some space and wiggle in there.

What kind of "rattle" are you guys getting? Is it just that the key blade can wiggle back and forth a couple mm's? That is simply because it is pivoting in a plastic housing. There has to be some play for it to work smoothly. If you're seeing something else, then there may be an assembly issue. I individually open each shell, wind the spring, and test it out before shipping.

Laterally read the last sentence of mine. Don't need a smart a** response. I asked bc they look exactly the same. What's so special about a wrx. Your factory pic looks just like mine. I also want the flip out key not the key with the buttons on it as the link to your other thread is. Again hence the reason for asking. Was gonna have you do one for me too if you can but don't know now

WOW dude. This is his thread and he's right, 2 secs reading the first post would have answered that question.

It sounds like you still didn't read it. Here it is for easier viewing:

This thread is meant to be a step-by-step guide on creating a 2011/2012 WRX flip key. This thread will cover the steps and parts specific to the 2011/2012 WRX. This can be done on 08-10 WRX's, but the parts and processes required will be different. See this thread on 3GWRX for further information:

http://www.3gwrx.com/forum/index.php/topic,22640.0.html
I hope that is clean. I am NOT offering to make a key for an 08-10 car, but I can get you a flip key shell if you're interested.

That's why I asked. why wouldn't it work on a non wrx. Bc they look exactly the same. What's so diff between a wrx key and a regular impreza. Our even a sti for that matter. Also as I stated I don't want the other style and would be willing to pay him(as he offered) to do one for me. I've never made these hence the question of will it work since they are exactly the same key according to his pics. I read the first post and looked at the other link before posting that. Just a simple question is all no need to get attitude about it.

Impreza/WRX/STI does not matter. The MODEL YEAR is what matters. You have an 09. Please read what I have bolded and underlined in the above quote.

It didn't wiggle around at first. Now that its settled in, it had a bit more play in it. I'm not saying that it is terrible, but it will make someone with OCD twitch a bit.

I did read it but guess I'm confused. The link you have is not for a flip key. That's what I want. Guys in that link did one but there's no white up for it specifically. But what ever ill figure it out somewhere else then.

For an 09 you have to do all of the things in the link, and then do all of the things in this thread.

For your car, this is not something that's going to take 5 minutes to do. If you're not willing to read the threads, I would not recommend this for you.

Make it simple for you, the all in one legacy key is the button set up you need with the flip key. Other thread tells you to get legacy key with matching chassis ECM for certain years. 09 key with 09 ecm, 10 with 10The buttons will then be used in your flip key.

So you need chassis ECM (keyless receiver), plus compatible legacy key, plus key shell.
The legacy keys are compatible with the latest Imprezas, but not your year. Follow the other post, then follow this one.

Is anyone having trouble programming their key? I am having similar problems with someone on page 14 of this thread.

I programmed the remote and got the confirmation (beep, then unlock/lock) from the car. I did this twice, and don't want to do it again because I don't want to wipe my 2 stock remotes from the car's memory.

Having said all that, the new remote module from the legacy key (I purchased it brand new from GenuineSubaruParts, P/N and FFC ID is correct) is still not working. No response, tried button mashing, tried giving it an hour or two, still nothing.

Any thoughts?
