If you're looking for a new block, then go with the dealer. Otherwise, they pop up in the FS forum pretty frequently.

subaruwrxparts.com has them for $2k. You could also check subarugenuineparts.com (edit: $1,938.52)

retail is $2026 and change.

Last time I saw dealer list price was $1,900 but I have seen it for slightly cheaper. You will never find a new block for that $1,500.

Befriend the parts guy at the dealership. I'm getting hooked up everytime I pick up parts.

having worked with Josh @ Import Image on some of my purchases and recco'ing him to all my friends, he will NOT disappoint and when something out of his control causes a snag in the process, he goes to work to fix it and make the customer happy. Rock solid service. Can't go wrong with him IMHO.

We have brand new EJ257s from Subaru on sale currently on our website for a screaming deal, and I doubt you'll find anyone who will sell you a new one for $1500 unless they're in dire need to get rid of it for some reason.

For a short time I had a built EJ205 block that cost me $1,200 total. I got a used bare block + crank and got forged rods and pistons.
