370WHP alternative to Dom 3.0XT-R
Looking for around 370WHP on 93 octane. Track days and time trials.
Something with a 3" inlet and full ball bearing. I have been looking at results with the 3.0XT-R, but I would rather have earlier torque and don't need that much max power.

have you looked at the AVO turbo's? my friends AVO450 made 461whp on e85 and the power delivery was intense!

How about a 2.5xtr?
I've never been impressed with AVO turbos relative to their price point. |

I was wondering about the 2.5, but there isn't as much feedback and results posted on it. Most likely because for the price difference most probably figure why bothering with the 2.5 rather than the 3.0
I would definitely consider it but would want to see more results. Currently I can't tell if in fact power would come on earlier with the 2.5 over the 3.0 |

There's only a few choices for BB turbos. Blouch 2.5, 2.5 XT-R, and ATP 3071R. The 2.4" inlet spool earlier than the 3". With an EWG, they should all be around 370whp+ on pump gas.

You could try the old dom 3 with the 8cm hotside. That will provide you with close to the same power (it's 3lbs/min different) and slightly better spool.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that blouch didn't use the 8cm housing any more, atleat that's what i was told when I had my dom 3 hotside replaced.

Thank you for the responses.
Yes I thought they put up results showing better response with 10cm XT-R over the 8cm. |

Sounds like it is between the 2.5XT-R and the 3071.

Why the 3076? I want power to come on quickly and don't want or need to get over 370whp on 93 octane, will the 3071 not get there?

The 3071 isnt going to hit 370 on pump. The spool between the two is negligable imo anyways.

Let me guess, on a dynapack? You can make any dyno read just about whatever you want it to but that does not mean that they are accurate. Trust me, your car does NOT make anywhere near 370 on a mustang.

for what the dom 3 xt-r is, it performs damn well. it is going to be tough to find a turbo that makes a real 370whp and spool better on straight pump and fits in the stock location. You can always go rotated and try a 3076. Flows a hair less (i think like 3lbs/min(?)) and should perform better due to the more direcet intake and exhaust path. If you are going to stick with stock location and want something with more low end torque I'd look into an FPGreen, or see what the latest and greatest is from FP.

What WHP would a 2.5XT-R or a stock location 3071 reach on a Mustang dyno using 93 octane?

As for the spool characteristics, it seems to be different depending on the dyno. Sometimes the 8cm spools quicker, sometimes the 10cm does. However, the 10cm has more top end, the 8cm has a bit more midrange. |
