Not sure if this is the right place to post, but any suggestions here? Rear end links contact lateral arm which enlarged the hole.

I should probably try to find shorter end links. But still need to deal with this big hole.

Does anyone have seat of pants difference after installing the swaybar mount point reinforcement mod mentioned at end of first post?
Thanks

Just to be sure that I answer this properly you are asking about the 08-17 style, correct? The 02-07 style actually replaces the OEM mounts entirely. The newer cars use a mount brace kit that is an additional part. I have had both and would be happy to try to explain what to expect. Also keep in mind that regardless of what style you're asking about a part like this is going to make a more significant difference on a car with a more aggressive a swaybar and endlinks. There will be more stress put on the mounting points from a stiffer set up and therefore reducing unwanted flex will be more noticeable.

Thanks,
Geoff

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Are there any other interchangeable suspension parts? Do the struts/springs bolt in as well, or do I need to source control arms for that? And if the control arms are sourced, do those hook up directly to the knuckles, same axles and everything?

Looking for feedback on the 15 WRX Eibach F&R sway kit. I am lowered on their springs w aftermarket LCA's. I guess if I go this route I should replace both F&R endlinks. If so I may just go rear to start but unsure which one, decent deal on the Whiteline 24mm rear kit. Comments?!

I have the Eibach F&R sways with the Kartboy F&R endlinks (you'll need the Kartboy front endlink spacers as well for this setup).

I have both front and rear set to full stiff. It's a very good setup that gives the car a very neutral feel around corners. You can also set the front to soft and rear to stiff if you want more of an oversteer feel but I like the balanced feel of having them both on full stiff.

Here's my video on them:

If I am reading the specs on this kit correctly I really think it is pretty unnecessary to do the front bar. You would be replacing a factory 24mm solid bar with an aftermarket 25mm hollow bar. This would effectively be less stiff than the factory bar that you have now. I know a lot of vendors out there try to push front sway bars for the 15+ cars, but in my opinion that really does people a disservice. A stiffer bar has its place, but it's better suited for a car on stiff coilovers that is used on the track.

The 24mm bar you have from the factory is actually very stiff. I would just replace the D bushings on it as well as the front end links. This will help the bar react just as quickly as an after-market bar will on the rear of the car. In the back I would replace the sway bar as well as the end links and add a brace kit. What size to go with depends on your situation, but typically either 22mm adjustable or 24mm adjustable is what you want. Everybody is a little bit different with this though, so if you'd like to give me a call or shoot me a PM I would be happy to talk with you about this and give you some suggestions.

Thanks,
Geoff

Default 2011 STi - sway bar plus coilover question

Quote:
2) 22mm front / 20mm rear 08+ or 24mm front / 22mm rear 02-07
This combination is going to work well on street driven cars. It is conservative enough that it will be comfortable on almost any surface, but it still adds enough stiffness that handling will be greatly improved. The fact that the front bar is slightly larger than the rear bar will keep the car's natural tendency to understeer more than equal sized bars would. This is a good combo for someone who wants stiffer swaybars, but is worried about added harshness or going too extreme.
This was a very good read thanks. I just got a 2011 STi and plan on doing some suspension modifications. I have previously had a forester which I heavily modded and really had fun doing it so Im excited about this one.

The car now is stock with the exception of an exhaust (purely for noise not performance - it came with the car)

My question relates to the OP info on sway bars. I would like to increase mine and like the comment quoted above as this will be my daily and I dont plan on track days. So this configuration seems good to me but I wanted to know if it would still be good if I planned on adding coilovers and dropping the height a little. I only ask because the OP next option (option 3 i think - specific to 02-07m models only) made a comment about the addition of coilovers to that configuration. So I just thought I would ask. The coliovers are likely to BC Racing BR.

Appreciate any comments.

I am curious about upgrading the front swaybar on 2008 non-WRX 5 door Impreza. I just put Eibach & Koni around, and I see Eibach has a set of F/R sways for WRX but they only list the rear for the non-WRX.

Wouldn't the WRX front sway be the same basic shape as the non-WRX?

It is tough getting information on non-WRX chassis. Thank you!

Some good and helpful info here. I was gonna buy my buddy's eibach full kit for my 16 sti but between immediately seeing the front specs and then coming in here to read up, think I'm gonna pass. Suspension wise I plan on only doing the end links, bushings, rear sway, and spec r springs.

the problem with the WRX front sway on your n/a car is the header. it will interfere with the bar. I've "heard" a WRX bar can work if you're running an aftermarket header, but I am not 100% positive about that.

the only N/A specific front bar i am aware of:
https://www.rallysportdirect.com/fit...2mm-adjustable

matching rear options (that also include D brackets and new endlinks):
https://www.rallysportdirect.com/fit...2mm-adjustable
https://www.rallysportdirect.com/fit...0mm-adjustable

any 08+ rear sway will work for you, including the 2015+ stuff. I have a 20mm 2015 STi rear sway on my narrow body WRX. fits perfectly and cost $100 bucks from the dealer. I run a 19mm 2010-2014 STi rear sway on my wife's 2012 impreza sport. also fits perfectly.

Default Cobb Endlinks

Just a heads up. I have Cobb bars front and rear on my '07 STI. I had to ditch the rear Cobb end links for steel Moog components. The Cobb pieces were rubbing on the transverse link causing a clunk every time I hit a bump with one or the other wheel. Note that this is the solid bar Al links with spherical ends.

If you install the Moog links, pay attention to the clearance on the attachment studs. They have to go a certain direction to keep from rubbing other suspension components. However, they do work and they appear to be just as strong as OE.

Hello hi,
I have a 2013 WRX and I just ordered 24mm front and rear white line swaybars with kartboy endlinks. I'm worried about my front endlinks since I didn't get a spacer for the front. Do I absolutely need them to function properly? Also I have 255/35/18 Bridgestone potenza RE-71R tires with BC coilovers with 6k front and rear swift springs. Will this setup be ok for circuit racing and spirited driving? What setting should I put the swaybars at and the coilovers are 30 way adjustable right now their at 15 front and rear should I change them and if so to what setting. I also have a front strut bar. Thank you very much.

Default broken whiteline rear ball link endlink

Anyone here encounter a broken rear ball link endlink?

Made by Whiteline and sold by Cygnus Performance (although I don't think Geoff sells these rear ball links anymore). I bought them back in Dec, 2012. Found out today that the rear passenger side endlink was sheared clean through. The front and rear anti-sway bars are Whiteline adjustable, (22mm/22mm), front and rear are both 22mm.

Is this a warranty issue that Whiteline can remedy?
Geoff - if you are online - is there something you can do?
What would be the best replacement endlinks? (mostly street, some track)

This has been resolved. Just to post some info for anyone who may be interested in the future this customer had purchased endlinks that were discontinued quite some time ago. We currently sell several different brands of rear endlinks for these cars. I personally run SuperPro and have seen the fewest issues with them although there are a handful of other good quality options available. Unfortunately there are also some pretty problematic endlinks on the market, but in the interest of keeping this thread focused on general swaybar and endlink tech info I will refrain from listing a bunch of different brands and my opinions on them.

Thanks,
Geoff

If i use a different brand of endlinks, would that be an issue? For example, Kartboy in the front and Whiteline for rear.
Thanks!

Mixing brands is irrelevant for performance. There are different types of links that could produce really different responses, but the name on the box shouldn't.

I’ve got a 2015 Impreza base sedan so there is no RSB and I’d like to add one. I’ve read through all the sticky posts and can’t quite nail this down.

What size is the OE front and rear sway bars for the 2015 Impreza base sedan?

Second, what other vehicles can I steal an RSB and links from to fit my car? From what I’ve read, the WRX and STI are, to a degree, interchangeable. But what about the base Impreza? Can I use an OE 2015 WRX bar on my car? Subaru parts suggests not.

Realistically, if the front is a 22mm then I’d go with a 20mm rear but I’m also weighing the cost/benefits. Especially since I have NO RSB at the moment.

Car is a strict daily driver that will never see a track. It will likely just see spirited driving around the roads and highways in Pennsylvania with moderate to low snow and somewhat crap roads.

Default Front adjustable Sway setting

I just installed an adjustable front sway (27mm Whiteline) on a 2005 STI. I'm looking for some guidance from others which setting best suits the car for track driving.

Default 2018 STI Swaybars for autocross

I am getting more into autocross and eventually want to try a track day. This is also my daily driver. I have HKS Hypermax IV GT coilovers on the car already and am looking at adding stiffer sway bars next. I am looking towards doing option #4 with adjustable bars and end links which will kind of let me go stiffer to make option #6 based on your article. I am on street tires as well don’t think I will run slicks. Do you have any recommendations on one or the other for a 2018 STI?

4) 22mm front & rear 08+ or 24mm front & rear 02-07
This is my personal choice for the street and street tire autocross. The equal sized rear bar gives the car a more neutral feel. It really does a lot to counteract the car's tendency to understeer. I use this combination on my daily driver and with adjustable swaybars it can be set up to perform well on the street, track and autocross course.

6) 24mm front / 22mm rear 08+ or 27mm front / 24mm rear 02-07
This is another popular combination... Probably just as popular as combination #4. The stiffer front bar will give the car an improved turn in feel over combination #4. I find that this combination doesn't feel as neutral on street tires as combination #4. To me it feels like it gives you a flatter, better turn in feel at the expense of over all grip. If you are on a smooth track with grippy tires this is a different story. This combo is perfect for someone who does track days or time attacks. It is also the preference of many for daily driving. It does give more noticeably better handling than combo #4 for daily driving. It just doesn't suite my personal driving style as well as #4 does. National autocross champions have also confirmed that a bar this large in street tire autocross tends to make the car understeer. The fastest street tire autocross STis in the country for the past few years have used very soft front bars in combination with very stiff coilovers.

Thanks,
Brandon
