Anti-lift kit install on my02
Does anyone know where I can find info on intalling a anti-lift kit on a my02? I have found plenty of info for the gc8 but all i can find for the wrx is comments like "Its a pain in the arse" with no real info. If anyone has done the install could you just type up a quick set of instructions? Thanks

Those instructions are for a GC8. For the WRX there are a number of subframe spacers that must be installed in addition to the instructions found above.
I attempted this myself. I quickly found a place with a hoist. It takes 2 people. The subframe around the front of the car needs to be removed, its not as bad as you think, its just cumbersome. The spacers must be placed and new bolts used at each mounting point. In the whiteline instructions it tells which spacer goes where. With a hoist and the proper tools to remove those bolts its an hour job. I would venture to say that without a hjoist its gonna take all day if not near impossible to undo some of those bolts. Tony |

G'day,
You can also find our 2002 ALK supplementary (subframe spacers) instructions here; http://www.whiteline.com.au/docs/208_KCA359.pdf. Cheers, Wojtek Whiteline Automotive. |

yea, I cant really read the instructions because the packet of grease broke open during shipping and got all over them. Thanks for the help everyone, maybe when I go and do this I'll take some pics and do a writeup. Oh, and sounds like I will have fun doing this with jack stands!

this install was nearly impossible
it can be done by one. i did. ah sheez! 1) got on my rhino ramps 2) took off plastic under covers (i think it was 1 big, 2 small side pieces, just philips screws and pop-screws, no brainer) 3) take off U-brace. be careful, this baby is heavy now the fun part! DO NOT USE 3/8" breaker bar. i destroyed 2 sockets and a torque wrench. thank goodness for Home Depot/Husky Lifetime/No questions warranty. 4) Use at least 1/2" breaker bar WITH helper bar. i think the socket size was 19mm (3/4"). take off the 2 bolts from each side. 5) now you need a 24mm box wrench, get one as long as you can get to get the right leverage to loosen it. 6) slide the old bushing off 7) using breaker bar or crow bar to leverage the control arm down to slide in the ALK. 8) reverse procedure while using the supplemental provided by Whiteline for the spacers. voila done! |
