Lightbulb STi Brembo caliper touch up paint!

I have some small dings on the top of my front caliper, probably from me putting the wheels on.

Doing a search, I found that this paint:

Honda Inca Pearl, paint code Y-61P, part number 08703-Y61PPAH

is a dead-match for the Brembo gold paint.

Anyways, I ordered some and it just arrived today.

Because my car is on the shop now, I couldn't compare it side by side with the calipers, so I painted a piece of plastic and compared it to another picture I had:

Looks like it's a perfect match.

Good find... please post back when you can compare it to the actual caliper though (there are a lot of times where paint will look close, but be very far off when it's actually applied).

All that said, it would be awesome to have a readily available touch up paint.

Yeah, I should be posting back tomorrow with the results.

Because I only have small dings in one corner, I think it should do just fine. Not sure about larger scratches or gouges.

I'll post the source where I obtained the paint when I take pictures of the caliper itself.

Can that paint take heat?

I'm not sure about that. I would suspect that for large scratches which require more paint, you'll need high-temp paint definitely, but it's not my case.

OK. It matches perfectly.

Before. See the three dings?, two in one corner, one at the top.

After:

I only applied two coats. Will retouch tomorrow.

Perfect match!

First of all, I love the rims!

Second, go on a couple of hard runs/stops and take a pic to see how the paint stands up to heat.

Thanks!

Oh, and good find!

Great job on the find and for posting/sharing

Eventhough I don't own an STi or the Brembos, I know a lot of people will benefit from this discovery - there have been a few threads now where people were despearately trying to find something like this. Hope this holds up well with the temperature concerns. Kudos my man...kudos!!!

Thanks guys. I think you should be able to order from any Honda dealership, the code for the paint is above.

Or I ordered it from here:

http://automotivetouchup.com

Specify you want Honda Inca Pearl Y-61P, for a 2001 Honda Civic.

Including S&H, it runs for $15.90. Maybe in the dealership is cheaper, but didn't find out.

In regards as to how the paint holds up, I'll post if I notice any changes. Like I said, because they're on one edge, it won't get as hot as a totally flat part of the caliper I guess.

Anyways, after daily city driving and braking, I have touched the calipers and they never seem to run hot as to be untouchable.

To those who track their cars, maybe a good high temp paint will hold better.

Why paint? That should buff right out.

Every time I see that pic I wonder what has happened to those calipers. Did the person end up repainting them or buying new ones or is he driving around on those?

yep that touch up paint is the stuff. at first it looked pretty thin when applying and i didnt think it matched that well but once it dried it looks nice. Ive only touched up the spots twice so far, going to do another coat once it dries. Here are some pics so far. As you can tell the left caliper was pretty dinged up.

The higher the calipers get the "golder" the paint will get. Some of the time attack teams in Japan have the Brembo calipers that are a super dark golden brown, like Gulden's mustard color. So once you track that car, you may see some major changes in the way that paint matches or doesnt match, only time will tell.

you mean the "hotter" they get?

well, if they're getting that hot, I don't think they'll mind repainting them again.... =)
