Tough break for Bottas. Looked liked he was on his way to winning the race, before issues with the car took him out.

Bottas blew turn 1, and it was down hill from there.
Lots of drivers are having issues with turn 1.

Credit where credit is due - Good job on Hamilton and the Mercedes team for being so dominant and bringing Hamilton his 91st win. I'm definitely not a Lewis fanboy, but that's quite an achievement.

Great to see Riccardo on the podium! And Great job on Hulkenburg. If he doesn't get a ride next season, it will be a damn shame.

People on YouTube like to call Hamilton the GOAT.

I'll believe it when he takes a team from **** to winner.

I agree with you, its easy to win in that car.

It was nice to hear Lewis speak highly of Max's abilities.

I think RBR is smart to want to take over Honda's IP and do the engines themselves.

https://www.planetf1.com/news/red-bu...tual-property/

FIA would be smart as well to allow for it and indeed do an engine freeze situation come 2022.

Which driver has? Schumacher? Ferrari took the championship winning technical personnel from Benetton. Adrian Newey has championships with Williams, McLaren and Red Bull - do you credit the drivers for that?

Merc wasn't exactly dominant when Leiws took the seat btw. McLaren was still regarded as one of the top 3. The Brawn/Merc's WCC title from 2009 was largely seen as a fluke made possible by an aero exploit - and they nearly lost to Vettel/Red Bull.

Lewis has certainly benefited from having the best car, just as every other champion has, with very few exceptions.

Schumacher is Goat btw.

There's no way Benetton and Ferrari win those championships without Schumacher. It's definitely not a coincidence.

Agree. Although Irvine came pretty close.

Mercedes in the hybrid era has enjoyed more of an advantage and for longer than any other team in the history of the sport.

I seem to recall Senna taking a less then stellar car and winning, was it 8 races back around 1988 was it ?

That's what I'm looking for from Lewis.

I'm also one that started following F1 back in 1985. There were a few drivers that were great fun to watch, any one could win.

Yeah, now that Bernie isn't around to deliberately **** over a dominant team. Think of how amazing 2005 could have been if it weren't for that stupid tire rule.

2005 was unquestionably the year of ****ery. There has been a lot though, unfortunately.

As great as schumacher was, he had Ross too.

Ferrari's culture changed and then reverted.

possible, to early to tell yet, but his drive in the rain in Brazil a few years back is still impressive. From that drive...he had me as a fan.

I remember Senna saying his dad would pull him out of school to go drive in the rain to practice/improve his wet weather skills.

well not really.

if you look back the history of the sport, the rules were changed up every 5ish yrs.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Formula_One

We're now on year 7 and next year will be 8 of the hybrid era.

In addition the rule changes continue to make it so one constructor can hold an advantage longer. For example, we have one tire supplier, so the team that makes the best use of that tire will enjoy an advantage. I personally would love to see more than one tire supplier, but the teams feel that such an advantage is gained through tire compounds that it takes the focus away from the constructor...

I'm guessing the last few years of ownership under Bernie and the transition likely had to do with that. Plus the uncertainty around the PU and the future of F1.

But Toto has a tremendous amount to do with Mercedes continued dominance - it's a team that has had the minimal amount of eff ups while having 2 very competitive drivers achieving their maximum.

i'm not saying toto has not played a part in their success, i must have mistook your message thinking it meant that toto was the reason the rules have remained unchanged for so long. obviously he is not going to vote for changes that would jeopardize the dominance of his team.

Haas is going to name the 2021 drivers this weekend.
And its not going to be the MAG or GRO.
I'm afraid they may go the pay driver route.

It's official:

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...BZvXo41cV.html

I'm hearing Schuey jr and Mazepin ( who has a boatload of money) taking their seats.
So is Giovinazzi seat at AR safe?

Gro is probably going to go to Formula E; Mag probably has a permanent offer on the table in endurance racing thanks to his dad, and now F1 experience.
